8am it comes out here, 8am. Make a note as almost all Live arcade games will be available at that precise time every Wednesday.
I'm mildly excited about this though.

IS it really sad that I'll be up at 8am and immediately on to the marketplace to see if they can prove me wrong and actually have the damn game out? ;)

First of all Hello to everyone here great site i've been reading it for a few weeks now and thought i best join in.
Yes the game does feel harder than before but is that the old grey matter slowing down or the very poor D-pad on the 360's controller. Either way i love it still after all these years. I dread to think how many versions of SFII i have brought through the years, this one was worth it though so i can now play online and not get my butt kicked by the computer all the time.

August 2nd, 2006, 14:32
Yeah. I feel dumb putting the difficulty down to one, but even then I can only win 1 out of 3. What the hell is up with that?
The D-pad isn't poor on the 360 controller, it just doesn't work very well in this instance. If the d-pad works fine on 90 games out of 92, it's a good d-pad.

I say the D-pad is poor due to the fact i have SFII on ps2 and i can pull of the dragon punch or fireball moves 99/100 with the ps2 controller but not with the 360 controller i can't. Although it may need breaking in as this is the frist game i've really used it on, suppose time will tell on that front. This is the one game that will show up a poor D-pad in my opinion. Now if only MS realeased a arcade stick then i would be in heaven.

The 360 d-pad is poor, compare it to the Playstation or Snes d-pad and there is no comparison. The reason I think is that the majority of next gen games only use the analogue sticks for movement, the d-pad is mainly used for weapon changes, maps, different views etc so it has been designed with that in mind. The awkward positioning of it doesnt help either. I think the 360 d-pad seems like more of an afterthought than a fully tested and researched addition to the controller.
Thats just my opinion though so dont kill me! :D
I'm yet to see how streetfighter plays with the d-pad so I may change my mind. What do you guys think, Is it easy to pull off moves with the 360 d-pad? also does streetfighter fill the whole screen or does it have borders? and graphically is it a perfect port of the original?

The Up direction on my d-pads stick like hell, so I'll just be hopping all over the place if I give this a try.
I don't think I'll bother, I've got an emulated SNES version on the PC anyway, and the multiplayer addition doesn't really do anything for me - sounds like I could rely on the AI to kick my ass as well as any American kid anyway :P

Stuck at work, same ol story. Can't wait to try it but yeah the AI is as bad (well... cheap) as ever. Same as the Arcade rom, they didn't tweak it. this isn't the same as the SNES version. Really though you should be playing online.

if you do follow through with that maybe you should paint the top half of the controller while it's off. I have 4 controllers, 1 of which is wired. I won't shed too many tears if I wreck it. And it sure aint rocket science :)

I don't like it either. Controls are OK (at least I'm able to do some special moves), but the game itself isn't. I'm disappointed about the graphics. I want full screen without having to resize it myself, because that makes the graphics even worse!
Playing on Live is terrible, all I get are timeouts when trying to start a quick ranked match (and it's definately not my connection).

I'm disappointed about the graphics.
You expected the next Gears of War from a game that's a port from a SNES game? Seriously I don't get how you can be annoyed by the graphics, everyone KNEW what it was going to look like since it's a pretty old game that everyone already played.

Noticed that option in the video options menu in the main menu that said 'borders yes/no'? Use it.

Try throwing private matches with people who also have a good connections. I played a few games against Rival24 yesterday and there was hardly any lag whatsoever.

Seriously I don't get how you can be annoyed by the graphics, everyone KNEW what it was going to look like since it's a pretty old game that everyone already played.I didn't mean it in that sort of way (I mean, a good port has to have the exact same kind of graphics as the original game), I was just a little disappointed about the lack of full screen and the simple menu look.
Noticed that option in the video options menu in the main menu that said 'borders yes/no'? Use it.Hmm, I overlooked that option. I guess those are the dark blue borders who "prevent" you from having full screen? Will try that, thanks for noticing!

Besides, I think that's not the right way to try to overcome these connection issues.
Oh and by the way, I say Gamespot complaining about the same things in their latest review.

Yea, it has to be a good balance, i mean the game cant start off insane, it needs to let you leanr it, and than get better and than the AI's difficulty should adjust to how well your getting.

:D:D:D n00bie. I love how Capcom continues to make 'challenging' games, I've been struggling with Mega Man X for weeks now and still haven't finished it but it sure is satisying when you beat a stage.
And as far as SF2:HF goes it's the best. Multiplayer. Title. On XBLA. Seriously, I had so much fun throwing Bison vs Bison matches agains Praetorian the other night. Excellent game.
