Maybe i'm just stupid, but are there two different log ins? We've got this one, and on the homepage, there's another log-in.
1. Why?
2. Could you explain how to get the other account? :? (I just don't want to keep entering information for comments on the homepage)
Thanks Guys, Great Information on the site. :)

Ey Chris,
There's a lot of technical difficulties in integrating logins and I haven't had really time to finalize that. Intention is to re-use the forum logins for both Wiki and Frontpage, but at the moment you can only register on forum. The Frontpage and Wiki logins are for editors only, and it's impossible to register for them.
I have code available for integrating forum logins with Wiki which I hope to have up and running before end of the month, and then I'm going to do the hacking required to allow forum logins to be used through the whole site.
Hope this answers your question :)

Frontpage is supposed to remember your information in a cookie btw, so if all's well you needn't enter information every time (name and email boxes should come prefilled). If this is buggy I'll have a look into that asap :)

I saw them in concert about 2 weeks ago, and they completely rocked. Bayside recorded = fantastic. But Bayside live = unmatchable. ;)

They're currently playing with two fill-ins, but the third member (Nick) should be back on the road soon. I'm not sure if they've found a permanent drummer or not.

ive been to and worked alot of gigs in my time, you always get two types ( in rock gigs that is.) theres gigs where the musicians are fantastic and all the guys (sometimes girls) in the audience shuffle to the front to gawp at the skills put down on stage, a little moshin, maybe some devil horns, but mostly just a bunch of guys staring at the hands of whichever musician they find most interesting.
then theres the other gigs, the ones where all the girls go to the front and stare at the lead singer, chanting the words to every song like some comatose cult members- the guys are either there for the poon or theyre really lame.
bayside was the latter, but at least i got paid..
bay city rollers, on the other hand, are a proper band that youll actually remember the next day.
Chris
March 5th, 2008, 01:59
So wait, if a girl likes the same music as I do it's a lame band? I'm not sure how old you are, but I've risen above (for the most part) my jaded look upon music and focused more on what I enjoy. I used to get so caught up in what/why everyone liked some band or whatever. I came to realize no one gives a shit what I think and that I should just continue on with what feeds my soul musically.
Lyrics, and meaning behind what's being said. Not just how loud someone can scream or yell or whatever you want to call it.

no, if youre stood next to a bunch of girls fixated on the lead singer, singing word for word then your lame. i doubt you do that, but thats what i saw when i worked for them. lots of emo lookin kids swayin abit staring at the singer, it wasnt a fun gig. i didnt say anything about loudness, or lyrics for that matter- but the whole thing was very forgettable. i thought you were a bit harsh correcting gaz so i was merely pointing out that bay city rollers are better. look at those deformed mullet wielding wearers of brace, bayside cant compete with that.
unfortunately i cant 'rise above my jaded outlook on music' because i work for bands and tours alot. so its gotta be a fuckin fantastic band or i fall asleep.

Thanks for that, should maybe get a few bands together off here and do a Xboxic festival, lol.
But we can't promote the accolade of C4 or BBC3 yet i'm afraid, best we got so far was couple of airings on radio and some cable shows and internet broadcasts from the Edinburgh festival Ross Band Stand.
Would be nice to have someone of note see us, but thats the big problem with this game a lot of the time, it ain't what you know.

Yeah we were on the radio last month or so. We didnt know about it though.lol Freinds and family heard it. A Radio 1 dj said he got a hold of a demo and were worth a listen to and to check us out. Also said he was gona play it during that week but we never heard anything bout it. Our hits that day were awesome though. A wee bit of exposure goes a long way.

I live near a band called "The Rumble Strips" and they've been a local band for quite some time, not sure if anyone has heard of them before but they are now supporting Mark Ronson on his tour across the UK.
They spent years unsigned and then had a few singles released last year and are being promoted to become a sucess in the latter months of 2008 and probably floating around myspace somewhere too.
Myspace is good enough to get you noticed as a band, radio play, cable shows and internet broadcasts are really good too...but it's colleges and universities which from what I gather seem to make all the difference and creating a small form of proven sales will get you noticed with a label. Im not sure how you would approach all your local uni's about playing locally but have you ever heard of www.affordaband.co.uk also ??
Have you thought about creating a website seperate from myspace from which you can sell mp3 or other digital download versions of your songs even if it's something like 50pence per song where they get the download link sent via email after paying by paypal ??

We have. Theres a site u can download song off myspace for free.
We were 7th for the week one time. Fukn random ehh?
Gnarls Barkley was 6th.
Weve made a web store though where we'll probably sell the mp3s for roughly 50p once its properly up and running.

honestly myspace and internet dont mean squat- you need to gig gig gig gigigigigiggidy gig, go to open mic nights, get on the list for unsigned nights at unis and bars/clubs and promote promote promote. nobodys gonna promote you unless you pay and lets face it- if youre an unsigned band youre smokin your last rollup in the 72 vw campervan you call a tourbus and you dont have anything to spend that isnt on things labeled aldi own brand.
find the surprisingly youthful looking 40 year old dj that is resident at every single rock club in town and give him your cd, every week. coz he'll lose it, every week. like jay says its sales that get the major labels sniffin your arse, not myspace hits.
if all else fails, follow zane lowe to his house and beat his children with a meat tenderizer til he gives you air time.
the rumble strips are phat, theyre a big time band- theyre on the run fatboy run soundtrack too

Been sniffing about some guy that knows a guy (fuck that sounds lame) that works for Rockstar here in Edinburgh in the hope of getting a track on one of their games (offering free of charge purely for exposure obviously).
However, anyone fancy doubling up on a gig sometime or need a Support anywhere in Scotland, let me know, always interested in more gigs.

I'd jack it all in for the music business in a second, only problem being I would need to bring in enough straight away that I didn't lose my house etc, so unless we meet some A&R guy that actually still has some passion for music rather than flacid shite bubblegum pop who wants to offer an advance that could keep me in the land of the black (wouldn't even take that long for us to do a full album, just finished a 7 track EP in about 38 hours recording and mixing time, which people will be welcome to the MP3's if ya's want them) then it ain't something I can dedicate my full time too.

sure, Cowell unleashes shite to the masses, but you can bet he never buys that shit himself. he didnt create tone deaf wannabe dickheads, he just exploits them and sells overpriced records to them. its fair play i reckon, he doesnt even pretend to be hip or 'in wit da kidz', he just says "i can make money on this cause im bloody good at it" and "science". his kinda pop shit doesnt really effect regular music charts, you dont want the type of people buying his shit to buy yours- itd ruin you. its those too cool for school radio one cunts that think they found every good band ever made that effect sales of decent music. if whiley or lowe or some twat says buy a fake penis made of wool and old bits of kitkat wrapper on their show then 10,000 people all do it straight away.

Fuck, wanted to do that for a while, LOL.
Obviously I do appreciate the Cowell situation, yeah, it ain't his fault, he doesn't invent them, he just exploits and makes money etc etc.
Guess I am just a bit of a music purist though, born in the wrong era. Should have been born at a time when even pop music had substance.
I mean christ come on, The Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Who etc all this was considered pop music at one time, now I am forced to listen to some talentless sparkly grinned fuckwits without one iota of talent singing some pishy little jingle written by some souless money grabbing sell out fuck giving free advertising to McDonalds, K.FUCKING.F.C and a cunting Pizza Hut.

theyre still pop, youll find them in the rock/pop section of record shops. and theres always been shitty jingles, just not eminating from our shores. lets blame america, everybody else does.
I think the real joke is the amount of people that dont have taste or talent yet still produce and listen to music. as mass noted, if youve got big titties and a nice ass youll get a deal quicker than somebody talented whose ugly, then itll crumble as quickly as it began because theyre a fad that kids outgrow and tasteless people dont actually care about. you then have this never ending cycle of wannabes that will sell their soul to have one tour and a couple of singles where theyre voice is manipulated on a computer (possibly even a soundtrack song to some skin crawlin disney flop). then every rag in the country wants a pic of those big titties and soon enough the titties are the only reason theyre famous. they get mtv 'reality' shows based solely on the fact that they have big tits and say stupid things, and dumb kids grow up thinking thats how people should act. so really people like cowell not only fuck the music industry up but they piss all over the moral fibre of an entire country. but like they care, they fuck off to fakeville LA first chance they get.
on the flipside, i love LA and cowell knows aswell as anyone that youve gotta be a dumbass to even turn on the radio nowadays.

yeah. we've got our cd launch gig on friday night so hopefully it goes well.
If all the people that say they are buying 1 on friday and stay to their word we'll hopefully sell at the most 50 but to be honest i'l be happy if we sell 10.lol
Say we were to sell 50 cds, that would make us £250!!! Not including what we make for playing the venue plus tshirts.
The money we make goes straight into the band so no payment for me unfortunately.
I think if we aim for double figures at every gig after the launch we'll be very happy.
ohh. and we're putn the cd on itunes. Hopefully the Americans that like us download a song or two.
