Hi guys, just wondering what your favourite XBLA game is out of the selection that is available at the moment and why. I have to say that Hexic HD is my fav closely followed Zuma and UNO. Im yet to play Streetfighter 2 though so that may change. :D I just love puzzle/tetris style games, and the addition of a worldwide leaderboard inspires me to keep playing, not that I'm very good.

For originality: Cloning Clyde (yes it's a platformer but the cloning thing is neat and well-executed)
For playability: Geometry Wars
For overall slickness: UNO (much better card-playing interface than the crap Hardwood games, please let poker play as well)

Geometry Wars. It's a contender for best game on the console, period.

Shoot me down if you like, but I stand by that.

It's a tossup because I love geometry wars and i like uno, now you would think that because of that i would pick geometry wars..but the thing is i suck at geonmetry wars and i get really lucky in uno :P so too hard to pick lol

It's hard to pick a favourite.

I love Geometry Wars, UNO and Hexic.

Galaga is good, but I finished all 12 achievements in one night! (As proof: http://www.360voice.com/blog.asp?tag=Chris%20Benoit23)

Considering buying Frogger, but the Demo really annoyed me because I kept on dieing! Stupid frogs.

EDIT: Bought Frogger yeserday, and as much as it's p***ing me off, I'm really enjoying it.

In no particular order:
- Geo Wars (sheer mayhem for 5 bucks)
- Mutant Storm (great graphics, sound and gameplay for a XBLA launch game)
- Cloning Clyde (originality, style, gameplay)

Geometry Wars, followed by zuma. I finished cloning clyde but found it borrowing and repetative. it didn't add enough to the mix, cloning into things was neat but didn't open up that many puzzle solutions, usually you just needed to swim, blow open a door, or jump higher or further.

SF2 is cool and all, I haven't tried it online, but it will only become my most played arcade game if I can get some friends onboard so I can play against them on live.

My Most anticipated games in some sort of order are:

Small Arms
Castle Crashers
Roboblitz
Heavy Weapon
Mad Tracks
Lumines
Hoopworld

(ie... the Original Titles :))

I'm having a lot of fun with Street Fighter. I like the challenge that it brings and online is fun as well. I expected a lot worse.

I'd have to say it's a tossup between Galaga, Zuma, Hearts, Outpost Kaloki X & Cloning Clyde.

Some people get Hexic, some people don't.

Just like Tetris, some people will kill for that game. Others like me think it's pretty boring.

Since I've got Tetris DS I would indeed kill if someone took it away from me. Multiplayer is soooo addictive. :9~

My all time fave at the minute has to be Texas Hold em, I like the multiplay environment and hopefully when the camera comes out there'll be a patch to see who you're up against. Although I hate the free xbox gold weeks, you get tons of idiots riling up grief against people more frequently I reckon!! Especially annoying teenagers trying to start a row and give you bad rep! Anyway that's probably another thread...lol

Hello, I'm new. :)

My favourite XBLA game is Geometry Wars 2. Haven't played it for a while but the urge for another prolonged session is growing again.
I like GW2 because it's currently the ultimate in "Next Gen Retro" - a mix of astonishing visual effects with old skool gameplay at its heart. One of those games that gets you in the legendary "zone" if you can stomach the constant failure to beat your highscore for long enough.

Uno: because it's pretty much like playing cards in the summer, no matter who wins, you get to talk to people and socialize.
Cloning Clyde: Pawa to indies. Original and done by craftmen. Respect the originality and the state of mind _o_

(Can I vote for Mad Tracks? I play it everyday...)

Zerodisorder

It has quite a bit in it for 800 points though, I mean its got better multiplayer than other games, a full single player campaign, and co op to boot, so it's 800 yes, but not as much as something liek Lumines, and with this your getting enough for what you pay for.

I reckon it's worth the 800pts.
Just downloaded it and had a quick blast and found myself falling in love with it all over again. Been ages since I played Doom and I'm amazed at how well it still plays. Ok, so some of the graphics look like the Pixel Monkey's puked on the screen but back in the day those little splats of apparently random pixels were considered not too shabby. They still do the job today if you ask me. Just looks a bit rough is all. Lean back from the screen and squint. It really helps.

Anyway, what about the playability, eh? Awesome! Some of the best level design ever seen in a FPS too.

A historic masterpiece like Doom? For 800pts? They're giving it away! :)

Pedle Zelnip
October 4th, 2006, 20:44
A historic masterpiece like Doom? For 800pts? They're giving it away! :)

- no ability to play/record demos
- no ability to play levels other than the 36 in the game
- no real contol over DM settings (what about things like -turbo and -altdeath from the old days)
- no updated graphics (download one of the newer DOOM source ports on a PC like ZDOOM and you'll have a tough time playing original DOOM again)
- multiplayer that has serious lag issues

So while yeah, it is DOOM, it's a somewhat stripped-down version of DOOM, and for a cost which is more than what you'd pay for the PC version in a store now.

Having said all that, it is DOOM, and it is still a hell (pun intended) of a game. ;)
