Thoughts on the 360 camera.

I nabbed a xbox live vision camera at ToysRus and here are my first impressions.

1. It is very small.
2. The ring of light around it is incredibly sexy.
3. It works pretty well in low lit areas.
4. It has decent resolution but not great.
5. It has some zoom capability which works intuitively.
6. It comes with a worthless headset and a meh Uno game.
7. Its obvious it was designed with xbox 360 in mind, it incorporates itself into the experience from the moment you boot to dashboard.
8. It works with windows XP.
9. It has a focus adjustment arund the lens which doesn't do much.
10. You can send PICTURES ONLY, not videos.
11. You cannot store pictures or videos.
12. You can take a new gamerpic only your friends see.
13. In arcade games the video window is too small.
14. The dashboard adjustments are worthless. The mods are also crappy.

All in all, its pretty damn cool. I think it was designed very well, although it is a bit overpriced. I simply cannot wait to use it for hand gesturing etc in real 360 games.

Hopefully the dumb Toys R Us idiocy might encourage other retailers to break release date, so that online retailers/importers start stocking them

Yea but you'd think theyd liek that but my friend who works at an EBgames said last year someone there was selling early copys of an EA sports game, and EA got pissed and stopped shipping the games to them for a year. I don't know if microsoft is the same way :?

Yeah well, it's unfair competition for other retailers. If Microsoft would allow it then they'd all sell their stuff early. This would result in messed up marketing campaigns etc.

I sincerely doubt I will be purchasing this. I enjoy to play games such as UNO at night, topless in my PJ shorts. I don't want the whole world to see me doing this, as it is embarrassing for them as well as me. The Eye toy did invade personal space and affect privacy, but this, for me at least, is a step too far. I'll keep my anonymity thanks.

It's bit of a shame you can't store pics or video's though. Perhaps it'll get introduced in the future updates. They should also let you transfer pics or video's to a usb flash drive

Well that's why it also works on your PC if you want to do those typically PC things. On the 360 it does what it needs to do on the 360 and nothing more.

How did the eye toy invade personal space, you chose when you wanted it on and off, and it only worked for certain games, not liek everyone could see you.

£37 is actually cheaper than the expected UK release price :P

Most of the eBay auctions are set to at least $100 Buy It Now, someone obviously hadn't realised the demand - sure they made a profit, but not a big one

One thing I failed to mention, the camera angle is adjustable on the base so you can twist and turn it to point wherever you want. So you can have it way up high but turn it so it looks down and to the left, etc. It has a suprisingly long cable too.

Got the camera on Monday there.
Its ok suppose. i needed 12months so i bought the gold vision pack for £60 at HMV. It includes 12 month gold membership, live vision camera, headset (i stood on and snapped my old one so this is why i bought this), uno(wow), robotron(wow) and 200msp(WOW!!!!!) plus exculsive access to totemball!!!!!

Not a bad deal. I would have forked out at least £35 for the 12 month and bout £12 for the headset which i also needed so the camera was quite cheap.

Anyone know if there are any proper vision games comin out?
I dont want to play totemball.;(

It would make use of the camera quite as i was unimpressed with totemball.

I wish they would've supported this better. I too bought it with the 12 months and a new headset along with the arcade games. I think more could've been done... not sure what but I wouldn't mind seeing more.

Only friends on your friends list can see you personal gamerpics. Gamertags on the net don't show them.
