Not cheap, and I'm bound to lose it somewhere, at least the current headset is so bulky that you always remember where you left it (it's got a cupboard of its own)

remember its not a simple bluetooth/ir headphone.. its a wifi headphone so they needed to begin at the ground to make this.

It reminds me of a jazzed up version of the mic I already have (Datel communicator), the one that just clips behind your left ear like a bluetooth.

I won't be buying anything of the sort, want to know my plan?
About a month after release, I phone MS and say it's broke, they ship me a new one free, hey presto!
WARNING: There is a 99.99% chance of this plan failing.

I am constantly told to unplug my headset because of the feedback so I called XBOX.
I bought the headset on 11/01/06 at Gamestop and they do not take back opened merchandise after 14 days, so I called 1-800-4-MY- XBOX and after telling them that I wasn't using a wireless phone or microwaving food and that crap, I asked to talk to a supervisor. They told me they only back up what comes in the 360 console bundles and that I need to deal with the retailer. I told "Supervisor" Jeff 6037 that the store won't take it back and he said he could not help me. I then said "So I have a $60 paper weight" and he said "yes". So Microsoft doesn't back their products unless it comes in the system bundle?
Has anyone ever encountered this? What do you think I should do about this bull**it?
FYI - I do have the service contract, but that only covers the system bundle.

That sucks :( I've heard way too many stories now of the headset picking up heaps of static. Wondering how my review unit will stack up when it arrives, my house is full of wireless networks and hefty electronics :)

I think you might have already read how pleased I was with mine (and still am) but see if yours is an UNO only problem too. I didn't get any problems until after my first full charge also. It turns up partially charged and I didn't get ONE issue with it,

I pulled it since all feedback was negative and claimed it was a fake, and although I do trust the video (hi micro123, welcome to the forum ;) ) there's not much point keeping an article that no reader trusts, and that I cannot fully confirm is true either.
In general, the comments boiled down to "whoo his hands leave the video far too often he's a Sony fanboy faking it so he can blame MS".

Ok well the video is not fake. Im using my only camera to do it and had my girl hold it. My hands left the video cause i was so close. There is no scam here you can see it all happening.
I love my 360 just got my actual one back from service today. I just want this issue fixed. How should I redo the video then? Hell i will go get a damn video camera from a friend.
For example here is one of the fifty emails i have personally recieved thanking me for making the video.... atleast it is helping some people. My threads on the microsoft forums are doing well too. So as long as it helps some people im happy.

Hi dude, thanks for posting this as it worked for me. I got fedup trying to communicate with these Microcap C@nts and you sorted it. I Bought another controller, worked A1 then I wrapped the old controller and returned it to the retailer. They can deal with the Microcrap ***.
Thanks again

Perhaps the medium is the problem: so much crap is being put on Youtube these days that a lot of skepticism arises from the URL alone :)
Anyway, I'll be curious when my headset arrives, I've only got two dec. 2005 controllers here :)

well I am gonna pick one up later and see what happens.
ok just bought the headset from pc world after using the web reserve and collection thingy for £25.99.
Promptly rush home, and begin the torturous task of breaking the bubble pack open. Spotted microsofts first mistake, which has been reported on xboxic, they have supplied me with a european adapter (I mean come on, do I look like a european??), living in the UK its a bit of a problem, but we have a shaver point in the bathroom so all is not lost.
Promptly begin the task of reading the manual to confirm how it should be synchronized with the console. Realise you gotta hold in the button on the headset for a second or two, it sync'ed perfectly with the 360, power on my controller, no problem, I start a private chat with a friend, while talking I power off that controller and try my other one, no problem what so ever, admittedly a two minute test isnt the end I will test it tonight during the usual all evening GOW session. The quality was good, my chatee reported no hissing or problems and said the mic volume was good.
I shall report back on my discussion with xbox support on the european adapter problem. Wish me luck.

I have mine since the day micro first submitted this and I also have 2 December 2005 controllers with which the headset works perfectly.
I'm not doubting you man, but mine works ok. Maybe it's a regional thing?
My wireless headset works fine to be honest. No problems at all. I'm not doubting you though, maybe it's a regional thing. Also, from watching the first video I saw that you turned on the headset first. In the manual, it says to have the controller on, then turn on the headset, then press the sync button on the 360 and then press the sync button on headset.
Hope you get it sorted anyway.

one of my controller is the one I got in the pack in november 2005, I even got the media remote with the pack so I was in the first batch(es), the other was bought after the fact.
My manual for the headset only mentions that if you have a controller active when you start the headset it will sync to that controller, it does say you dont have to have a controller connected to use the headset.

The reason i do it headset first is to show what happens when it tried to resync. Otherwise i have to have the camera on the headset and controller for 20 minutes waiting for it to resync that would be a boring video. This is just emulating a resync. Also it shouldnt matter guys. Notice the old controller doesent work but the new controller does. If nothing was wrong then they would both work exactly the same. As you can see they dont.

I was just passing comment on Paul's post, not yours micro.
Spent 8 minutes on the phone to UK support, gotta take it back to the shop, which means I am going to be in the shop breaking other packs apart to see find a UK adapter.

I am considering buying another wireless mic. My first died on me just over a year ago I think, but I am certain that when you charge them via the wall plug adapter that came with them it could fuck up the rechargable battery after time.
Any ideas if the ones in the UK shops now come with the USB wireless mic chargers as per my picture below
http://www.jason-andrews.co.uk/mic.jpg
or if anyone has bought one recently in the UK is still the big crappy black wall plug ?

I bought a wireless mic but they are pretty shitty compared to the wired ones, I'm surprised you wanna waste more money of a crappy headset.
I also didn't know they'd started shipping with USB plugs, but why would a plug damage the battery more than a USB connection?

Because with wall plugs you have more chance of 'Battery Abuse' by overcharging. Sometimes the adapters if they develop a fault can over ride the set output voltage and it then renders the battery useless and also when the battery is fully charged and the wall plug still being left in, you are still abusing the battery because more charge is going through it when it is not needed. With a USB cable the recharging should stay at around 4 - 5 volts with it being highly unlikely the 360 will output more power than needed - although it means the headset will take longer to charge, but battery life maintained and the power source being the 360 should recognise when its fully charged and shut power through that USB off.
I also didn't know they'd started shipping with USB plugs, but why would a plug damage the battery more than a USB connection?
They started rolling them out in Canada first with the Halo3 headsets, but EU locations are still having crappy wall plugs to my knowledge unless anyone knows different.

I was tempted by the Halo wireless headset but only hear bad things about them, but I have gone through a few wired headsets now but I just picked up the messenger chatpad so I have another one so all should be good for a while!
