I'll buy one, probably for the same reason as everyone else, it plays different sorts of games from the Xbox360/PS3 side of things and it ain't got a stupid price tag.

So for me it will be a 360 and a Wii and maybe after about a year or two I may be tempted to buy a PS3.

No Wii online multiplayer for Call of Duty 3. Is this a horrible trend?

Yesterday I posted (http://gonintendo.com/?p=4939) a story on Call of Duty 3 for the Wii, in which a Nintendo forums member said that Game Informer metioned that the game would have 16 player wifi. The info was indeed posted in Game Informer, but there was an error. I received a statement from Activision earlier today.

“That was a misprint on Game Informer’s part. We wanted to clear up that the Wii version will not have online multiplayer, but is being developed to take advantage of the unique controls and provide an amazing single player interactive experience.”
The gamecube seems like it's haunting the Wii.

US Wii Price, Launch Date Revealed
The news we've all been waiting for.

September 13, 2006 - Nintendo fans finally have a price and release date for the company's new generation console, Wii. The Big N is set to officially announce that the system will hit retail in North and South America for $250 on November 19. The New York Times published with the story and seems, in fact, to have beaten Nintendo Co. Ltd with the news.

Nintendo's Wii console will come packaged with one Wii remote, one nunchuck attachment, an AC adapter, an audio/video cable, a sensor bar, sensor bard stand, a Wii console stand and two batteries. The package will also come bundled with a copy of Wii Sports, a compilation sports game that best shows off the mechanics of the system's unique controller. Wii Sports features tennis, baseball, golf and previously unannounced bowling and boxing games.

The Big N confirmed that it would charge $50 for its new Wii games, which is $10 cheaper than the cost of typical Xbox 360 titles. (Please note that this is First-Party games, prices have not been announced for Third-Part Wii games -- publishers are free to set their own prices on Wii titles.)

Nintendo Co. Ltd. revealed that Wii's various controllers would be available to buy separately at launch. The Wii remote will cost 3800 yen or about $40; the nunchuck 1800 yen or about $20 and the classic controller 1800 yen or about $20.

True, it's a shame it only comes with one controller in the package, you'll basically need 2 to have fun with Wii Sports. Still not feeling the price tag, it's only 30$ cheaper than a 360 core.

That USA price isn't final yet as far as I know. The press conference will be held today.. The European price will be out tomorrow as far as I read on the net.. Maybe it's cheaper over here. I saw the Yen price and that was like $180 in Yens or something like that.. Let's hope EU price will be 200 euro with wii sports included :)

While the official Wii press release today made no mention of DVD, Nintendo VP of marketing has confirmed to IGN that Wii will not include DVD playback. From the article: "Nintendo of America's vice president of marketing and corporate affairs, Perrin Kaplan, confirmed to IGN Wii today that its forthcoming Wii console will not play Hollywood DVD movies. The decision to remove the functionality was made in order to deliver the machine at a cheaper cost and because most people today already own DVD players."

Yeah that's another thing, how can they justify the pricetags on those games when they're basically last-gen games. It bothers me beyond believe what Nintendo is doing with their pricings. The Wii is the most expensive Nintendo console to date, it's only 50 dollars cheaper than a 360, controllers for 60 fucking bucks. I think they're making a big mistake with these prices, especially since they've been marketing it for being the cheaper console of this gen.

You can get a DVD player cheaper than a new-release DVD in some places nowadays, so I don't think it'll have too much of an impact.

Very true but you cant blame them since all they are doing is feeding the monster. If people were not willing to pay jacked up prices then there woulddnt be a market for it. I have had a Wii for a few weeks now, and I just cant see how the remote wrist strap can break and fly out of your hand at the same time. Im pretty rough on boxing, tennis, but its not as if its a slippy remote or anything. Also cos the xbox360 is a million times better than the wii, ive not played it much nor even looked at games for it - BUT it has an internet connection (i downloaded columns - i love columns) are there any online mulitplayer games available. I like playing with other people, no fun playing with myself.

yeah I guess there is a 1 in a million chance it will slip, but not ever hard enough fly through the air at 100mph breaking the strap heading straight for a tv screen....

I have noticed through practising to let it slip (out of curiosity) that it actually falls and heads downwards because of the strap. no way could it hit a tv it goes straight for the floor...

my overall opinion of this machine is out right rubbish. I just look at it and wished my xbox360 was that small, noiseless, and used SD cards hidden under a flap instead of big chunky mem cards poking out. It has a wireless internet connection which is good - but wheres all the mulitplayer games!!!!!! The VC has shit titles and I've given away my machine to my sister who loves it...
