As we would say in Holland; 'I put on my naughty shoes' and make the first thread here ;) And what better way to begin then with an Adventure thread.

Recently I've completed 'the longest journey' again and am now playing 'Dreamfall' (both great games) and I was wondering what you guys think are great adventure games which I should deff. play. Do you even like the genre or hate it from the bottom of your heart?

Spill it here :)

Clique. (http://forum.xboxic.com/showthread.php?t=455&highlight=adventure)

I loved Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Zak McKracken and Loom. A lot of people like Grim Fandango but I didn't really get into that game.

The most recent modern adventure I played was Runaway. That game's only a couple of years old and still looks great. When I was in Leipzig I saw a booth with 'Runaway 2' writings on it.

Broken Sword 1 and 2 were pretty good as well.

Regarding the Clique; I know about the other thread but this PC forum was empty and I wanted to start a post here so that empty spot would be filled ;) (slow day at the office)

Grim Fandango was a great PAC game. I also enjoyed Broken Sword 3 (Didn't get to play all that much of the other 2, but they were good for what it's worth). My all time favorite PAC game though has to be Flight of the Amazon Queen. I loved that game when I was younger.

Broken Sword for the xbox wasn't too bad, I enjoyed it enough to give it a play through. I do love the older adventure games more than the new ones though, I liked Grim Fandango, and Sam and Max are great, but my favorite is the Monkey Island series :D... Oh, and The Longest Journey was great as well, how do you like Dreamfall Cage?

Like it a lot and hate it at the same time. Weird eh? I'll explain.
The game has the same wonderfull storyline as TLJ (the longest journey) and looks awesome with the modified half life 2 engine. A lot of 'old friends' show their faces (crow, yes!) and the new lead "zoë" steals your heart in a second :)
There are some things I hate about it and those are the action parts. You have to fight or sneak at some points in the game and it's no streetfighter or splinter cell, if you know what I mean.. There are also less adventure elements like finding stuff and combining them like TLJ had, but all in all the game is charming and fun. Love it :) The story alone is worth playing it..

Thats about the same thing I heard from other people, when it drops a little I may get it and give it a run through, I have heard from other people aswell that the story is mint.

I really really really want to play Grim Fandango, I bought it on budget recently but the control system is literally impossible on my laptop. I think the controlscheme (which is UNCONFIGURABLE) involves the numpad or something.

The Indiana Jones SCUMM game was great too, particularly the different paths/endings you could take in the game.

Of the recent games, Fahrenheit was great, apart from the ridiculousness of the plot towards the end.

I never got to finish Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy for the US folk) cuase I sold my Xbox but I finally picked it up again today and I'll play through it before the end of the year.
was planning on doing it this week but then I accidentally picked up Ninja Gaiden Black as well so that might keep me from Fahrenheit

I have to look into that 'The Longest Journey' stuff as well, never gotten around to playing any of those games but the stuff I hear in this topic might make it worth to check out.

Fehrenheit was such an amazing game, the plot was weird but the gameplay was grade A.

You should deff. check them out.. The longest journey is one of the best, if not the best adventure I've ever played. Great story, loving characters, great gamplay and the voice acting is amazing!.. Play it now. It took me almost a week to finish it, playing 6 hours a day every day (all my spare time and precious sleep hours).. Couldn't stop playing :D

Edit: Would I have to play them in order Cage?

It's not necassary but I would recommend it. In Dreamfall you'll get to visit locations from the first game which is much more exciting when you've finished the first game. Some conversations will probably be weird if you don't know the basics about the two worlds..
These 2 games are part of a trilogy so to get the full story play TLJ first. It's like back to the future. Part one is the one that explains all and part 2 & 3 are 2 linked stories which you can watch without ever seeing the first one.. :)

PS: both games have long dialogs, so be prepared :)

I've recently found a game Facade its kinda like an adventure but also like a stage play. You are invited over by Trip and Grace for an evening of fun and laughter. When you get there they are arguing and continue through out the evening. You can interject with your own comments at any point and the characters will respond contextually, which normally leads to more arguing. This is where the fun begins. Aside from writing crude , suggestive, or downright immoral lines you can play properly and watch a marriage unravel. You can save the script when you have finished the game, so you can relive the drama, the heartbreak, or the hilarity and even share scripts with other people. Very Clever as well as amusing, intriguing and original. I won't link it but it is freeware and freely available to download though my advice would be get from the official site as many gaming download sites have the older(not mention bigger 850mb as opposed to 160mb) version hosted.

How not to script.....I play the part of Lisa(Just think pantomime dame)

TRIP
