View Full Version : Ninja Gaiden Black

It must've been ages ago since I last played this on my original Xbox since my skills are so dusted it's not even funny anymore. I use to play the normal Ninja Gaiden on my Xbox, I picked up Ninja Gaiden Black yesterday (27 euros) and I started playing it again, this time on my 360. It runs smooth as hell. There were some issues with the smoothness of the FMVs but all that is fixed apperantly.

The graphics are about as good as some X360 titles, still good enough to no be annoyed by them. It supports HDTV in 480P. I recommend you check this title out ASAP if you haven't because you're missing out.

I had this game, I couldn't put it down. It is still the BEST 3D platformer/action game created, ever!
This game is NOT FOR : NOOBS, novices, intermediate's, pro's or master's. You have to be a L337 to even complete the 1st level.
I played the older version, not the Black edition.

It has nothing to do with being a noob or not. I just dislike the fact of doing parts over and over again in this sort of 'action adventure' style of game.

I think the reason you did it over and over again is because you're a noob and couldn't do it the 1st time. Trust, NO-ONE did this game without dying atleast 100 times. (No joke.)

Rival; you're a n00b, sorry. This game is pretty hard but it's not that hard that you have to play each level 'over and over again'. I just finished the first boss again. I'm playing it on Ninja Dog now until my skills are what they were back when I first played it :).

Cutting your hand off isn't that hard either, what's your point?
Nino

The point is that you refuse to play this game because you say it's too hard. I admit that it's hard but it's not too hard to enjoy, unless your skills suck and you're a n00b.

This game is one of my all time favorites, if not my all-time. I have beaten it i think six or seven times. I had the original and beat it three times, sold that. Bought the original again, beat it another two. NG: Black came out, so I borrowed my friends copy and copied it to my xbox. Beat that. Bought the 360, and just bought NG: Black earlier this week for the mission modes alone. Just finished the game up last night in six hours and 31 minutes, I rushed through it but somehow ended up with more golden scarabs then anytime before. This game is definitely worth it for the mission mode alone. I want to fight evil Ryu so bad, getting there!

I loved this game as well, and completed it.
Tip for anyone that wants it, upon reaching the sewers under the imperial city there is one room where which has a large door to your left when you first walk in and if you turn to your right run a little bit up a slight hill on your left will be a door that takes you into another room where if you run up the hill there will be a save point and shop.
If you have the patience you can go between these two rooms killing the bad guys that continually appear in the previous room after going in and out the save room.
It took me a couple of hours but had every weapon upgraded to its full potential which certainly makes life a bit eaiser for the final stretch

I never said I was superiour. All I wanted to say was that it isn't that hard as some people said in this thread., especially on 'easy' mode it should be playable for most gamers. Still tough as hell in some parts.

I like playing games that are fun. It pisses me off when some of these difficulty levels come out. Of course we want challenging but some of them are a little overboard.
Being so pissed off that I feel like punching holes in walls and throwing my controller isn't exactly what I call 'fun'.
Nino
September 3rd, 2006, 04:58
But think of the satisfaction when you finally do beat that hard part. NGB isn't that hard though, never got frustrating so far. Just make sure you save your game enough, the games' save system is unforgiving and if you die after beating a boss and you forgot to save then you'll be set back to your last save point even if that means you'll have to beat that boss again.

I think, but not so sure, you have to finish it on Normal to unlock Hard then Hard unlocks V ery Hard and Very Hard unlocks Master Ninja
EDIT:
Unlockable / How to Unlock
Ninja Dog /Die three times consecutively in Chapter 1., then accept the choices given to you.
Hard / Complete the game on Ninja Dog or Normal difficulty, or have a save file on your hard drive where you completed the original Ninja Gaiden on Xbox.
Very Hard /Complete the game on Hard difficulty, or have a save file with the clear data of the Hurricane Pack 1
Master Ninja /Complete the game on Very Hard.
I guess i was wrong, you just have to complete it to unlock Hard

I love this game (well... Ninja Gaiden, not Black). I got this for about six bucks. It's well worth fifty. It's the hardest game I've ever played. Seems like every time I put down the controller, I lose whatever ability to play I had before. But if you go through a good bit of blocking, counter attacking and flying-through-the-air-to-chop-your-enemy's-head-off-attacks, you should be able to get past the easy guys. As for the bosses, you're basically fucked before you even start playing (though with potions, you may last long enough to take out your sword).
When it first came out and my friend had bought it, we beat the game in a day and a night. That was a while ago, so since I bought it for myself, I haven't played much. I just picked it up again and got to the Imperial City. Question though. Does anyone know how to do the wind run? It says x + a... but when I do that, it doesn't do any move, I just do one move or the other (slash or jump).

I'm not going to bash anyone by saying they're all n00bz. I think they don't know what type game they're playing
Many people go into this game thinking it's a mindless slasher. Shit, 2 of my roomates didn't even know there was a block button for like two weeks, and when I showed it to them, they couldn't even utlize it. Now they were just casual players of the game and this game does take a level of dedication to learning the combo moves, and especially at the higher levels, YOU MUST MASTER THE COUNTER!! Once you get the timing for the counter down and max out the unlabored flawlessness you are untouchable.
another tip: Once you maxed out the UF and your health drops to less than 25% your damage goes WAY up. and once you drop below 10% (your health will turn BRIGHT red and start flashing, your attacks will bring bosses down in less then 5 mins. Just remember to block and use the "y" button counter attack (it'll lift you into the air and repeated smashing of "y" will give you like a 3-4 hit combo) Sorry if there are a couple of minor mistakes in my info it's been well over 2 years since I played it but there ya go!

Actually, Ninja Gaiden Black can be put on an easier setting for those people who fail at the game. XD Little more content also.
Wind run... I'm not too sure how to give you more information. I looked at the controls and at the weapon combos. I see the Y + B fire attack thing, but for X + A, it says Wind Run. When I hit X + A, I either do X's function or A's function, but never anything that seems like a wind run.
BruNasty
April 30th, 2007, 12:19
Man it's been a couple of years since I played this game I believe (although there is a great chance I could be wrong) but the wind run is an arial attack. The buttons need to be pressed at the exact time. It's generally tougher to pull off on bosses but (and my memory has been faded by pot use, and I was high the majority of times I played) it is a jump, that if you do towards an enemy, Ryu jumps on their head lands behind them with the monsters stunned. The only reason I don't spin this game up again is because all my saved data was on my orignal xbox, which is in a thousand pieces after an encounter with a 1/4 stick of dyno and my hurrican pack was on there plus lots of maxed out Ryu saves but maybe I'll load it up again.
Sorry for the lousy spacing and tangent paranthesis, I've been up for 22 hours and am a little delirious

There is no original Xbox stuff available to download on the MArketplace, it's 360 stuff only.
The only way to download the hurricane packs is through the in-game downloader accessible through the main menu. They should still be available.

I think I prefer God of War in terms of story and presentation but both are equally awesome in terms of combat. It's hard to decide the ultimate favorite but I think I prefer GoW2 over Ninja Gaiden. Yea, I loved the Master Ninja Tourney. It added a whole new level of gameplay. Instead of fighting through for survival, you have to play for Karma and there are a fixed number of enemies so if you don't get the best combos you're screwed.

Sending those ninjas to hell is getting pretty old ... I'm not sure what made DMC 3 better ... probably all the different styles, cool weapons, or the fact that the story was interesting. In NG, the story is pretty much non-existing. Anyway, NG is still a badass game if not for the weapons, it definitely is for the difficulty. Those green ninjas sure know how to kick my ass. They don't kill me right away but they do take away a pretty large chunk of my health with each encounter.

The combat is slightly different in DMC, you can combo between your blade weapon, firearm, back to blade etc. for NG, you have to go through an interface, select new weapon...
As for tips, Try to get as much of that Karma stuff that drops down and kill people with your charged attacks, when they die from special "charged" attacks they often drop larger ammounts or health bonuses.
Level up your weapons as quiclky as possible. and one thing I don't like about NG Black is that they took out the karma harvesting, where tehere was a room of bats that consistently respawned and after like 4-5 hours killing them., you could level up all your weapons and the maximum weapon: the Unlabored Flawlesness... god I love that weapon, it's kinda slow, but fuck it packs a punch!

A bunch, Right after the train, before you jump into the sewar, I think after you fight the giant dino, there are usually save points nearby. I think that with NG BLack, they did away with the harvesting but, if you do your charged attack on them they can drop upwards of 1000 points each batch, so kill two of them, Charge your attack, collect those two orbs and then unleash on the rest in an uber-combo
I stopped playing just after the first level :P It was too difficult to be fun.
u must button mash, button mashers dont get past chapter 1, AT ALL. i know, i've tried.
and u can still harvest in black, and even easier.
in chapter 10, the aquaduct, you can harvest the bugs in the room, just leave one or two alive, leave the room and go back in. when you've got 99999 essence after you upgraded everything, leave the place. on hard mode its harder since they block alot.
