Ok guys n gals,

Other thank Gears of War coming out for the 360 in the week the PS3 comes out. What do you think the Xbox Team could do to keep our attention on their system?

I personally would like to see a week of free content like the E3 week.

I think they should:
-Give all silver accounts gold for the full week
-Release a new demo each day for new games
-Give away a free theme and picture pack for Gears of War.
-Lots of new game trailers

What do you lot think?

A one day price drop, on the PS3 launch day, cut it by £100. (very unlikely.)

There isn't much they can do at launch, as everyone knows, only hardcore people go straight to the shop, and they will have their minds on getting a PS3.

Ah but they may be dissapointed when they get home take there shiny overpriced machine out the box and realise that instead of a PS3 a George Foreman Lean Mean Grilling Machine has been put in the box by mistake. It could happen.

I doubt they'd be wanting to fight straight up in that week. Gears should speak for itself, and will be running on every 360 kiosk in the world, and apart from that I'd expect MS to lay low for the week.

I think TRIGGER is probably right. The first batch of PS3’s will be sold anyway. MS should focus on the “post PS3 launch hype” period when mainstream console buyers head out to their local gameshops. That’s where the battle will be fought.

I doubt we'll see an M rated game (Gears) in kiosks.

Ontopic: There's nothing MS can do about the PS3 selling out, it would be foolish to do much about it since they won't get much attention anyways.

The PS3 will get its 15 minutes of fame, then the 360 will say, "Enough Bitch," and slap that shit back down.

MS should focus on the “post PS3 launch hype” period ...

Or the 'post PS3 launch window' as Microsoft would probably call it. :+

I think this should be called; Xbox 360 vs. Wii vs. PS£ (cheap play on button layout there ;) ) What can each system do for christmas. That's when it will begin!

Basically the 360 has won christmas, tho whether or not its marketing team can pull it off time will tell. Its got a whole year on the ps3 already a lot of work has already been made on refining it, developers are underway with the second or is it third? generation of games. The 2nd generation of ps3 games is a long way off. XBLA has improved ten fold will continue to do so, as has XBL. I was in Game yesterday and I was playing PGR3 and a kid came up and said "I'm getting one for christmas" and I told him I already had one(he didnt beleive me?!). But not even his mate said "There crap, get a ps3" in fact sony didn't even get mentioned. This is a random snapshot maybe but it speaks volumes to me.

The PS3 will sell out at Xmas: that's a fact. Enough kids will want one, enough parents will want to buy them for their kids, and that's before you factor in that everyone will be buying them just to sell on eBay for a profit (the same reason it became pretty difficult to get a 360 in the early days). It's just a matter of how many consoles Sony can replicate - which at the moment isn't very many ;)

360 will have a comfortable hardware sales lead for at least another year though.

why would parents want to buy there kids a 600$ console lol. I have a feeling parents like to save some money during Xmas :P

Yeah, $600 is a huge number to kids without snobby parents.

That's the problem, I think $600 crosses a line. A lot of my hardcore sony friends can't really justify buying one because they feel they were used. Probably because of the statements such as "Microsoft is copying Sony". and "Next-gen doesn't start until we say it does!", and "We'll now be gaming in 4-D with the PS3!"

They'll sell out, but it won't be anywhere near madness. Sony has fubar'd too many of their hardcore fans to really make the world overly enthousiastic, or their marketing department has an awful lot of work to do still.

But hey, as the saying goes, if they just filled a metal box with horse shit and labelled it Playstation 3, it'd sell 10 million still :)

HAHA there is no PS3 launch week this year, not for Europe at least.

I hope they don't push the Gears of War launch back. :(

To interfere with the PS3 launch. (UK) I know they wouldn't do that here, but who knows.

Yeah, the GoW was perfectly timed with the PS3 release.

Yeah, the GoW was perfectly timed with the PS3 release.

THey'll have Halo 3 and Forza 2 and Viva Piniata around the time the PS3 launches in Europe. And I highly doubt they can actually get PS3 in shops with numbers they state (even 500k). Maybe only demopods in shops and delivered in 2007. Even the March launch in Europe.

Actually it doesn't really matter anymore. They'll never get on top this gen anymore. 360 will have sold 10 million around the time the PS3 launches. No PS3 on the shelves, gamers will buy 360's again this Christmas. It'll sell loads, more then expected.

Even the prediction of analysts the PS3 catching up in 2011 (when the new xbox will be here) is shattered with new production numbers I guess.

Wii is the main thing to watch this Christmas. It'll do good and 360 will be bought by a lot of Wii buyers after some time when prices drop and they'll see HD gaming experience is same or better on 360 on graphics (no advantage for PS3) and the best online service is still XBL

Delaying a game 4 months so it won't sell shit anymore, while they could be getting 4 months of free Xbox 360 advertising because Gears is available and playable this Christmas, as such selling heaps of 360s just because of the Halo-effect?

I doubt it.
