I was surfing the net looking for the value of my extra Xbox power supply and I stumbled onto this link http://www.us.playstation.com/Adaptor.

Did I miss something? Microsoft was burned at the stake for faulty power cables etc and it made the news all over the place, this is the first time I have heard about it for my PS2, but then again, I haven't dusted it off in so long it would probably combust just by powering it back up. >:)

Am I alone in my observation or is this so old of news that it isn't news? 8)7

Must say I never heard of it either. Could be simply a very small problem group tho, more or less like the Dell battery recall (although that also made world news).

Maybe with a little bit of money they kept it off the news ;)

I am just blown away, I have two other friends that are Sony Fan Boys (I like to tease them so I keep them around) and they had not heard of it either. I have to wonder how much money it was that kept this out of the news...

Costco says on their website "The recalled AC Adaptors can overheat and melt. This poses a risk of fire, burn and shock injuries to consumers."

A google search revealed this site (http://www.ps2ac.com/faq_0.asp).... it may be more widespread than they let on.

Check it out. http://www.ps2ac.com/faq_0.asp

Well, they've already sold 100 million units. I think if there were a widespread problem, it would be more evident.

It looks like they caught it in 2004 ... they fixed the issue with the rest of their units then. I finally found some actual dates.

Didn't everyone with a registered Xbox-live account get a free one? I did, but mine wasn't faulty in the 1st place.
