Just thought this was funny. Showing how lame the UMD format is.

Blu-ray?UMD?Memory Units?Mini disc?[thanks bigsteve]Betamax?
Is there a pattern? Yeah, all those formats are fucked, or in the process of being fucked.

The UMD is a fine format for PSP games, no problems with the fact that it has moving parts, the size (both filesize and physical size) is perfect. The only problem are UMD movies but who cares anyway, the PSP has a built in movie player.

How can Nino just throw away he fact that UMD movies aren't part of this equation, If you're going to sell it as a retail movie player? Don't say we're supposed to use files when we've got the average user with 32MB of available space. Even the gig sticks are shitty for whole movies, with other content(music, gamesaves other shit).
And yes, BigSteve. I forgot to add that. Thanks.

The gig stick has more than enough room for more than 1 full length movie Chris. All my savegames + applications combined are less than 75MB. If you convert a movie to PSP format it gets a lot smaller, up to 400MB or so. And why the fuck do you care about whether or not UMD movies are any good? Besides, it has nothing to do with the format; it has to do with the fact that watching movies on a 8" (wild guess) screen isn't the best way to watch movies and people aren't going to spend money on it.
Stop posting stupid fanboy threads based on nothing Chris, it annoys me beyond believe.

Fanboy threads? I HAVE a psp, and I haven't ever bought a psp movie because:
1. they're $29.99USD (mostly)
2. they don't even include standard bonus features that are on dvds
3. like you said, it's a tiny ass screen
Also, no portable game should be $49.99 either, especially when they were mostly ports for the first year and a half. For some reason, it's extremely rare to see a Nintendo DS game to be $49. I thought the UMD was supposed to be cheaper to produce. Didn't you?
no fanboy things here.

More than enough fanboy things going on here. First of all, you can't say UMD is a failed format because of the movies. Were N64 or Gamecube discs a failed formats because they didn't have movies? And concerning price and bonus issues; Sony is going to force movie publishers to sell movie UMD's for $14.99 and they have to have all the bonusses.
You have to admit that for PSP games UMD is an excellent format; small, big in filesize, pretty much shock proof.
Seriously, give me one reason not to lock this thread?

The N64 wasn't sold as a movie player, nor was the Gamecube.
Maybe it would've worked if the functionality of the UMD worked in other hardware, but no. You're forced to buy a damn PSP. That's fucking retarded.

I think UMD is crap because it drains your battery way too fast. DS > PSP

@Rival; I never have problems with my PSP battery, the duration suffices. Besides, how big are DS cartridges? 256MB max? Most PSP games wouldnt fit.
@Chris; the thing is called a PLAYstation Portable ffs. Of course it gets advertised for every feature it offers but that doesn't make it a movie player. Now give me one reason not to lock this thread within the next couple of replies?

Rival: agreed.
Maybe we should start a capcom fanboy thread. For some odd reason, I don't think that'll get locked.
