Windows Vista RC1 [Archive]

I know its not a gaming topic, but has anyone tried the new Release Candidate for Vista?

I got an email this morning to download the new ISO. It's downloading now in work.

Anyone tried it? Anyone played any games on it?

I downloaded the previous one but didn't install it. I'm waiting for the final version.

I installed one of the previous ones and I absolutely hate the interface. Ugly icon set, ugly theme, not a lot noteworthy improvements...

That doesn't fix the icons in My Computer for instance.

Currently working on build 5384. Have the RC1 on my desk right here only havent found the time to install it yet. I still dont quite know what to think of it yet. I hate the fact that MS puts all tools and program etc. on a completly other location within the OS. For instance, the Control Panel is completely redone :(

And some of the Sidebar "Gadgets" can be best descibed as 'kansloos"

The interface does take getting used to. I wouldnt go so far as to say that I hate it, its just... different :)

I love the interface.

I just think it's alot glossier, and Microsoft did a great job in re-defining the look of Windows and making it looks more sleek and sexy. Microsoft Windows Aero skin is "Bringing sexy back".

I swear, I have had my ups and downs with these BETAs of Windows Vista, in BETA 2 I couldn't get any of my drivers loaded, and the video kept messing up. I am running something called Windows XP Vista, it's windows vista but with all the driver support you need. I am going to get RC1 from one of the techs Nestor that I work with at this computer store, and try it out.

These aren't bringing sexy back, they remind me of stupid ugly nerdy Linux icon packs for people with black wallpapers with white tribals on it.
