Well at least my Xbox Live is working now (http://forum.xboxic.com/showthread.php?t=485), but I still have some problems. It seems to take forever to download stuff, and not just the new content either. I had NBA 2k7 and NHL 2k7 demos queued up overnight (1GB each), over 12 hours later and one's downloaded and the other is 25% done. That's hella slow compared to my net downloads, anybody know of anything I can do to speed it up? It's probably something in the network settings menu in the dashboard, but I don't understand all that stuff.

Do you download using the xbox wireless adapter or do you connect your xbox to a pc or laptop using the ethernet cable? You didn't mention what you use in your message.
I had a similar problem which was explained to me that in the settings something called the N.A.T had to read Open instead of Moderate, I know that an ethernet cable uses limited download speeds in ethernet moderate mode, and everything downloads 4 times faster using the Official wirelesss adapter which gives an open NAT mode.
if you're already using the wireless adapter on the back of the console, then it might just be heavy download traffic with everyone downloading all sorts of crap with it being the Free Gold Week, more users than normal.

Kinda threadjacking, sorry Studley.
How do I check if my N.A.T is open, and how do I change it?

Go to the last blade, Network Settings, select Test Xbox Live Connection.
Mine's already set to Open, and it's still downloading slowly :( I think it's something to do with my crap new ISP.

Last night and the night before, Live has very bad problems. Maybe you should try and re-check if your downloads are still shit. Though saying that, it was about this time at night they started to fuck up.

I had incredibly slow download speeds a while back too. I was using the ethernet cable that came with the 360, but when I tried a different cable my speeds sped up dramatically! So you might want to try a different cable.
I feel your pain man, my longest download was the PGR3 demo, that took a little over 18 hours!! But now since I've switched cables the longest anything has taken is about 7-10 minutes!
Hope this helps!

Something tells me Xbox Live Marketplace got ass-screwed during TGS Bringing it Home.... not much you can do about that, they can't triple capacity overnight for a single-week event obviously.

Yeah it seems like it was just being slow during TGS, plus one of the demos that I was downloading got corrupted somehow anyway (it said it was downloading NBA 2k7 but it was actually NHL 2k7). Things seem better now!

Not corrupted, I noticed a while back that they mislabeled one of them.

You guys, the NAT is your network address translator. It hides your from the internet. That's very simple, but think of it like that. If it's moderate-strict, it will deny more attempts for xbox live to connect, and send packets. Open provides less protection, but your xbox 360 can't be hijacked, so Open is safe.
Hope that helps a bit.

I'll show you my NAT if you show me yours. :+
