View Full Version : Honestly, I don't see myself playing the Wiimick, after playing PS3/X360 games...

Honestly.

After playing some PS3 games on a HDTV, or some kick-*** 360 games in the near future, who thinks that gamers might put that Wiimote down for some real gaming.

While I would love to play Metroid Prime on the Wii, I don't see myself spending a lot of time with a system with GC graphic qualities, esp. after some serious graphic candy from PS3/360 games. And yes, I love graphics, and gameplay.

Besides, other than Zelda, and Metroid, I wouldn't play any Wii games. Most of them are just... kiddish.

I rather not swing my hands with the controller. Call me lazy, but I like to relax when playing games.

Call me a fanboy... but I don't own a DS, I've never touched a Gamecube controller, and haven't played a nintendo game since N64... which I lost after lending to a friend. And it's worth mentioning that I have an HDTV, but I still want to wave a magic Wii-and to play Wii Sports boxing and Raving Rabids.

It may be just a gimick but how do you bring PS3 into the conversation and not point a finger at the Tilting controller. What a joke, you can't tell me they had that planned all along, but, on a positive not for PS3 hardcores... it's early enough in the lifespan for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen software to make an interesting difference in gameplay.

The main reason I want it is just for backwards compatibility, the thing just looks better than the Gamecube. I'll get one at launch but the first game I'll be buyting (other than Wii Sports) will probably be Resident Evil or the new Smash Bros.

Nino
September 25th, 2006, 13:10
You'll have to wait a bit for Smash Brothers Brawl and Resident Evil. It depends on my budget but I dont think I'll get a Wii at launch anymore, the only interesting launchgame at the moment is Excite Truck (for me at least) so maybe I'll wait for Mario Galaxy or Smash Brothers til I get a Wii...

I do. And I do think I'll also be putting down the 360 controller now and then to grab the Wiimote for some fun games.

Not everything in life is about graphics and immersion, and variety is the spice of life.

If a Stars Wars game comes out on the Wii where I can swish a lightsaber around with the Wiimote I'm afraid the 360 is history. :P

A lot of things 'sound' cool on paper, but I think LucasArts will manage to screw the fun out of it (maybe). Just a thought.

How many games have sounded cool, but end up being shit? A LOT.

Yeah most games are over-hyped or fall prey to bad excecution.

But we're talking Lightsabers here! Lightsabers!

Swooshing them around and stuff! :)

At least it'll be something different. The 360's just treading the same old path with the same old games, an endless procession of FPS, driving games and sports simulations that we've been playing for years and years. The release schedule for the 360 is dull as ditchwater for people who are tired of gunning down enemies with weak AI in a corridor or paying another £50 for a new team roster. Whizzing a virtual lightsaber around looks pretty good from where I'm standing, no matter how badly it's implemented! :)

A couple years ago I remember this virtual reality Star Wars game where you fought the person in the one right next to you. And at the time I thought it was cool, but you swung your arms yet, the lightsaber only went up and down and you really had no control. That ruined the fun of it.

At least that won't happen on the way :) On the Red Steel homepage (click (http://www.redsteelgame.com/)) there's a huge movie on this guy playing the game on the Wii, and that had me really impressed and wanting this game. On the other hand, for most action or racing games I'd prefer my 360: I don't want to sit waving my hands at everything all the time, and then I want the better graphics and sound definitely.

Yea, but the Wii will be good for party games and having friends and family over playing it. My girlfriends excited to get her hands on it as much as I am.

The Wii will be lame unless it has Giant Crabs, Riiiiidge Raaaacer and Real Time Weapons changing for ultimate damage and you knows it.

Being that the Wii isn't much of a step beyond game cube there is no way they can incorporate real time weapons switching until at least the 4th generation of games on the console.

So... TGS and X06 have passed since this thread was started and the verdict is in: All the platforms pretty much suck and don't have enough content :) (but i'm still a sucker spending money).

I don't think the Wii is the exact same spec wise as the gamecube, I think everyones comparing it graphical wise, but Nintendo hasn't said it had the same specs.

Yeah same here. I aint played a nintendo game since diddy kong racing and goldeneye on N64. I've had a Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2 - and I will not be buying a Playstation 3. I love my 360 to bits and I never owned the first xbox.

I feel the PS3 is the ultimate rip off for those who upgrade from the PS1, to PS2 to PS3 - they're forcing crap down the sony fan boys throats. I have a Wii on pre-order and although the graphics look slightly not up to the same standard - the Wii remote has saved the day in terms of gameplay and looks fun!! Its just a shame theres only ONE gamercard thing per console though!! they should seriously upgrade that. Think of a 20 something with a 10 yr old brother or sister and everyones friends are all on the same list....eeewww

My 2 hour impression of the Wii (Zelda): I just want to play Zelda already... enough w/ these gay ass controls. My wrist hurts.

I've found myself getting confused a few times between the z/b buttons on the 2 controllers. No system before had 2 controllers and I'm not initially a fan. Maybe after the growing pains are over...

But for now? Give me a gamecube controller and let me play Zelda already.

Actually... I think I may play 360.

edit: oh dear god. please, by the time metroid comes out, introduce a Wii controller with a right analog stick somewhere, anywhere, for camera control.

yes it does hmmmm i may get a wii nice price although the whole wiimote and nunchuck is £45 which is a bit steep for me using the wii mote to control the chainsaw in RE5 will be so enjoyable almost as much fun as GoW i would imagine and all those classic games even the orginal sonic (who Pwns Mario) AWESOME

I played Wii today, Wii Play Table Tennis sucked, way too sensitive and uncontrollable however Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam and Excite Truck were both realllyyyy fun to play. Hope I can still get one pre-ordered.

Having had a few days for it to soak in... it's not as bad anymore.

I hate game tutorials. I just want to know how to play, and be enjoying/starting the game already.

Starting up Zelda as the first Wii game played, you are stuck going through two tutorials at once. While learning the buttons on the controller, I was also trying to learn links abilities. I felt disconnected, split in two, thinking right hand / left hand... it was slow compared to a normal controller.

But sleeping on it, the controller is now as easy to use as a 360 / ps2... (except no right analog >:0).

Wii Sports is definitely a game enhanced by the Wii remote. Zelda? I would just as soon play on 360 and be just as happy. The motion sensored / pointer stuff seems tossed on top of a finished game for zelda. For Wii Sports, the motion sensor IS the game.

That's what a exactly believe too. But after seeing the reviews and Glitchy game play of PS3 on most of the release titles i would of took it back and waited for wii to come out lol. Think about when they release the good Wii titles everyone is waiting for.. and The NES, SNES and N64 titles that use to be a classic to everyone.

I've been to the Red Steel launch party earlier this week, and although I can confirm the graphics are better than Gamecube, it's not an immense difference.

They'd better pray the gameplay stays good and innovative enough to stop people from forking out the extra $50 for a 360 core package.
