There's not yet much available on this title, but if they continue the great quality of Resident Evil 4 i believe RE5 will become an instant hit. Check gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/adventure/residentevil5/index.html?q=resident%20evil%205) for screenshots and a cgi movie.

What do you guys think about it? How will the storyline evolve and what does Umbrella have to do with all this, since it was only mentioned once in RE4 if i remember correctly.

The atmosphere in this screenshot is just awesome. Never played any RE game that much but the things I'veheard about the story were pretty good. Wouldnt suprise me if I'd end up buying this thing.

I played every available RE game and they're all awesome, some less awesome than others though ;). Capcom said the final game would look like your screenshot Nino, and I really hope they can make that happen.

Yeah, back to the topic (cough, cough.)

I love the Resident Evils, and I admire your collection Rival, I have also played all thoses games and completed them all. Yes, I have finished the Gamecube remakes and the originals, also the Gamecube version of RE4 (not the PS2 one yet or ANY pc/n46 versions of any Resident Evil, don't really like the N64 or PC). I am going to get the DS version of Resident Evil one. I have also finished all the console versions of Silent Hill aswell, and whilst I am on it, I have also finished Capcoms Dino Crisis 1/2/3.

So can you guess, I am really looking forward to this. I heard that the snapshot of the game (shown above) is actual gameplay footage, but no one has officially confirmed this.

It was not really long after RE4 when they showed this image and the little trailer. My guess it's just a CG trailer, it just looks too good to be true.

how did you manage to play, let alone beat, dino crisis?
Lol, that game remind me of Code Veronica. Terrible graphics and no atmosphere :(

I had a gamecube when it was 99 euro with resident evil 1 remake for 10 euro or something, all new.

RE1 on GC is in my opinion the best resident evil ever made.

Also this is the only remake 2 and 3 and veronica on GC is a direct port.
I can understand that xbox fans hate resident evil, but still, it is one of the best series erver made.
Condemned is for kids when you put it next to resident evil remake ;)
Resident EVil 5 would be a great hit on the xbox i tell you.
also the cube has zero which i did not play, but from what i heared is very good.

I grew up with resident evil 1. I played it in groep 8 when on the basisschool.
My mother helped me translate some shit becasue it was a german version (enlish voice acting)
the remake is perfect.
In the end i sold the gamecvube because i thought the other games were shit. Although capcoms' pn03 was also very addictive to me.

I think i can't choose between Resident Evil 1 & 2 (originals) I've played them both a million times. I do like the resident evil 1 remake but it's just very different from the original one (a lot tougher too). I only finished it once, but i'm gonna try it again sometime :) Same goes for Resident Evil 0, very different but still enjoyable.

Resident Evil 2 was the first game that almost made me faint ;). If you finished the game you're presented with the option to play the '2nd' scenario. During that, you're folowed by some sort of robot. Now as you know all the backgrounds are static in RE2 and you can always see what the objects are you can interact with. I was lighting some candles in a room and suddenly this robot breaks through the static wall and wants to grab me.. At that point I jumped up and fell on the ground, that was such a freaky experience damnit, i'll never forget that.

Yeah, I think that Resident Evil 1 was the best (original), just by a little bit. The time when you ran in that mansion, after some terrible intro and the terrible voice acting 'Jill, STOP IT! Dont open that door!' (Wesker said.) Then going through that door and finding blood (shaped as a lamp) then going into the next room, finding that zombie (refer to my avatar) and then Barry Burton with his huge gun, blows the zombies head off. Another classic line from RE1 was "Wow, you were almost a Jill sandwich" ahh...the classic good old times.
Lets hope RE5 can continue the legacy, which is Resident Evil.

when you completed RE3 you could do some kind of minigame where a bomb was implanted and you had to kill some, and rescue some. Very cool.

is it the same like in RE2, because i never played it so i don't know ;(

You refering to the Mercenary Mode, in which all you had to do is complete the game once, and it was unlocked next time you continued your last save. Resident Evil 2's was different, you had to complete different scenarios at least once getting an A rank. I remember the names, they were Special Agent Hunk and Special Agent Tofu. They were hard to do and obtain due to time consumption. E.g - For Tofu, you had to beat 5/6 scenarios (can not remember well.)

Yeah sounds like a good idea, i'd appreciate that very much. I started playing RE2 again and it's so goddamn ugly :D. If this game was released on the Xbox 360 I would definately buy it (for the 3rd time). They should fix the door opening speed though, opening doors in 1 second instead of looking at that annoying animation again and again :/.

What was worse than going through a door, but just as you tapped the door opening button, realising that was the wrong door, and knowing you have to turn around and go back through:-(
The stairs were bad, but not as bad as doors.

I recently added Resident Evil Outbreak File 2 to my collection, too bad it's a gaystation 2 title :P.

But what exactly did you like so much about RE0, it has some very weird scenery like dungeons etc. It's not as hightech as all the other RE's. And there are no storage crates argh!

I cannot wait, to see Resident Evil 5(RE5) in next generation and high definition graphics. Even though I was little when RE came out, I still got the shit scared out of me when my big bro used to play. I am not sure, I am going to be able to play, without pissing my pants. Hehe, I could barely play Condmned. I hope, this game isn't scary. To top everything off, I am afraid to get on the Raging Bull at Six Flags: Great America.

We'll see at E3 06'!

In my opinion, Chapter 5 isn't the scariest. That damned St.Joseph school is the worse.

Shame that Resident Evil 5 or Condemned 2?, weren't even mention at E3.

Condemned is a bit short. It does however have amazing audio and it drops your ass into the condemned world with the sound effects. Sound is a huge deal in this game, and I liked it.

I think a better horror sim is SIREN for the ps2.

Silent Hill 4 does not compare to the other silent hills.

I personally do not count it as a part of the series at all, it is SO bad compared to the others, really.

Try playing silent hill 3 and you'll know what a real silent hill game is about

That's rather harsh, I thought it was a really good game. In my opnion it had the best story to it than any RE/Silent Hill/Condemned.
And I bet you can pick it up for about £5 now, so it's really worth the money.

Most games now sell their titles just like SONY is planning to sell consoles, by name and name alone. MGS4? It has to be AMAZING. why? well uh...because it's MGS. Resident Evil 5? come on. I've never finished the halo 2 campaign because it sucked,
I've never had live on my xbox so I can't judge that part, but I am sure glad
I borrowed halo2, In stead of buying it.

I have not played any of the Resident Evil series (I was a dedicated PC gamers before the Xbox 360). If the game is similar to Condemned: Criminal Origins, then it will be a must have. That game was awesome.

On the side comment, I played Halo 2 on the Xbox 360, and loved it. It was the first FPS that I was able to play through on a console.

Right. Playing on a 51" HD or even worse when playing with my 106" HD projector, Wii graphics are horrendous. Wii Sports you can put up with, because it is ment to be cartoony, but Zelda was so bad, I returned the game after only 2 days.

ugh my god. RE4 looks great, but for christ's sake stay away from the PS2 version and go with the gamecube one if you can, much cleaner looking, naturally. NOTHING likeCondemned at all. It's dumb, but I always think of the design, down to the actual controls, to be similar to the Mother series. Like in RE4 you don't just go blasting, you have to actually hold out your gun. In mother to run you have to like, hold a button down andyou start running, but you can't bump into anythnig. It's weird and probably doesn't make much sense if you haven't played either of them, but it's just how you have to take more steps for the actions, it just feels so more natural and realistic. I think Assassains Creed is a perfect example as well. The controls for the game sound amazing.

I've got RE4 for my pc this weekend.. Didn't even know it was out for PC's :) Always wanted to play this edition of RE but I don't own a gamecube nor PS2 so could never give it a go.
Only checked it for about 2 minutes (got into the house in the beginning and turned it off) because I didn't have time, but I liked what i saw thusfar..

Now I know where Dead Rising gets its weird aiming system from haha :+
I hope I can find some time soon to burn some hours in this baby :9~

I've noticed yeah.. even in that short period of time it was a hassle holding the shift and aiming with wasd then press enter for shooting . What the... 8)7 I was planning on getting a wired 360 controller for my pc so I can play RE4 like it should be played. :D

I liked condemned so much that in fact it was the 2nd game I got after coming back from Portugal and playing Call of Duty 2 so much(pity I couldnt link the game save to my gamertag).

Anyway it is such a cool game with the demented addicts throwing themeselves at you and somehow I got everything done and collected too.I hope there is an even more perverse.sick and twisted version to scare the heck out of 360 owners :)

Yea I went over to a gamestore to find more RE's but they only had Zero, Code:Veronica and the other remakes. I thought about getting Zero, but they we asking 3,000 yen (about 30 bucks) for it, so eff that. I really want to get RE1 remake for GC, I've heard its really great. Then I might buy Zero, but since I just want to get more backstory (considering I've only played and bet RE4 as of now) I might have to give in and buy 1, 2 and 3 for GC. I heard 2 and 3 were shit remakes though, so ehhhhh idk. I just want to know more about the story.

Like, I know about Racoon City, and what happend there, for the most part. But I want to know more about Leon, Ada (particuarly Ada, how do they know each other??) and well, who's this Chris dude I hear about from people?

RE:4 - Leon, and at times Ashley (that bitch, she's hot though, and although shes polygons, you all know you want that ;) )

Okay and as a side note, does anyone else find mercanaries HARD AS SHIT haha. i think its pretty tough. Ada the Spy is kids play save that Krauzer battle.

Clock-tower, as someone mention a while ago, is a badass game. Props to whoever brought that up. Condemmed is also AAA. RE5 will look as good as that screenshot, I wouldn't be suprised (blown away, but not suprised it will look that good). Considering RE4 looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING on GC, I can't imagine what they will be able to pull of on 360. I read somewhere that the hair is being detailed to every strand- maybe a little over-the-top, but hey, japanese people put that much effort into things, so I'm not suprised. I think RE5 will have some of the best graphics around,　not to mention gameplay. If they keep up the same gameplay from RE4 and jut tweak it a bit I would be happy, but they might be up to something completely different as the trailer hints to ;).

:( off hand not a clue ahh ok, well claire (RE2) is chris' (RE) sister, i dont know of anyone being a son but on the other hand there have been so many "other" im not to sure of the cannon... cos in RE:Gaiden at the end Leon bleeds green blood but is fine in RE4 so it could be in outbreak or one of the other sub-games where the son of a previous charcter is there.

Chris Redfield could possible be the main character, which makes me VERY happy. Though HUNK would of been cool.

I was actually very impressed with the trailer. But not for obvious game related reasons. I was very impressed with the quality and artistic style of the trailer. Immediately reminded me (visuals and audio) of the opening of Black Hawk Down. There's that one guy yelling through that speaker thingie (don't know the english word for it right now, sry) who looks exactly like the very same guy in the movie (if I remember that correctly, didn't actually check the movie to compare) :) Even the music sounds a bit like Black Hawk Down.

At the same time I was also very worried that this trailer would cause serious racial issues, which it did. The problem isn't even the fact that it has africans as the bad guys. It's the fact that it shows extremely violent africans beeing slaughtered totally out of the story context of the game. That's all you see there. No story hints at all, just a white guy mass killing violent black people.

I'm not judging this at all. I know the context and I am ok with it. But I can see how "uninformed" public audiences would reject this as very very racial content and how all hell could break lose about this. Very, very touchy subject and imho a huge mistake made by the company that made the trailer. They should have included enough story information to explain what is happening and why. The way things are now I wouldn't be surprised if this will continue to draw more and more media attention until it crashes down on capcom (legally) forcing them to change the title.

Unfortunately video games do not have the same artistic freedom as movies.

I reckon resident evil is actually pretty intelligent for a shooter/horror game and its storyline will be chris saving africa rather than murdering every guy there. the fact that these people are living in poverty AND get zombiefied will make for a disturbing and meaningful storyline like the scene where the poor geeza gets turned, or the whole end credits of resident evil 4- where you were left thinking 'those were all normal people in the beginning, before i had to smoke em, damn thats kinda sad'

Here is hoping that Capcom wont have to delay it to 2009 so all the characters can be changed, I really want to play it.

Apparently this trailer is causing quite some fuzz and shit starts flying already.

It really was a superstupid mistake to produce such a trailer and put it out there totally out of context of the game or the (more widely known) movies. I wonder how this is gonna play out. Most certainly it will get Capcom some more unwanted media attention than they're already getting from the latest Dead Rising shit that's been happening.

You don't have to go looking .... just imagine you don't know nothing about Resident Evil, are not a gamer and maybe have a kid that plays videogames. Then you walk into your kids room right when the trailer begins and you watch that ..... not knowing ANY context at all.

THEN you tell me how you're gonna react to that. And that is exactly the problem with this trailer. It's made for a very specific audience that knows the whole Resident Evil story, the games and the movies. If you don't know anything about that franchise and get to see this trailer and are beeing told it's about a videogame ... what would be your thoughts ?

I'm 100% sure Capcom knew shit would fly as they were making this trailer. Just look at how much 'negative' press Rockstar gets. Compare that with how many copies of GTA they sell and you'll see why Capcom wants this 'negative' press.

Well, there's negative press you'd actually want to sell a game to kids (like negative press about excess violence as seen with Gears of War and pretty much every Rockstar or Id game) and there's negative press you'd want to avoid at all cost because it touches much more sensitive areas like racial stuff, killing children, raping etc.

I don't think this was done on purpose. This was a careless mistake made by ppl who know the franchise inside out and just saw the art in that trailer and not the message it carries for those who do not know what it is about.

I'm pretty sure we'll see Capcom trying to dodge bullets pretty desperately very soon.
