Hey guys,

When we stroll through the comments section on our sites we really like what we see: active discussions with great insights from both sides of the fence and just a really active community. The amount of people commenting is pretty high and that's something we really appreciate and was something we always aimed for.

However, we noticed some complaints recently and want to discuss these with you guys: some people claim that this site has gone downhill, some people complain about the amount of news and that we're getting slow. Now the frontpage isn't the best place to have a good discussion so I want to invite each and everyone of you to give us your feedback here in this topic. Are we really that slow? Do you like our news? Do you like our writing and reporting style? Do you like the topics we post on?

We do our best to make this site the best games site there is and we really want to improve even further but we can't do that without your ideas and thoughts. So, what do we do next?

Personally, i check this site and gamespot once a day and read all the news on each. i like this site because of the usually more mature users and no real issues with moderations, which gamespot has more than enough of. i like the writing style, it's very no-nonsense-heres-your-friggin-news-to-the-point and i like that. it's also pretty funny due to some of the dirty jokes that normally wouldnt be on other sites. so i really like xboxic, its a shortcut thingy on my firefox bookmark bar.

Those complaints are based on nothing. Just childish comments if you ask me. The site has improved alot since I came here the first time back in January.

I also check xboxscoop.com since it's online and compared to all those feeds, yes xboxic is sometimes a bit slow. Especially because there's always a crewmember online, but I don't give a fuck about that. The news that should appear asap is showing up on this site as one of the first (new marketplace content etc.) The other news is nicely filtered for me and only relevant things appear on xboxic. And all of those are nice articles with some jokes and swearing added. Me likey likey :)

I'm (slowly) working on letting the forum login continue on all the frontpages, but my strong preference would still be to keep it optional, so that people can still comment anonymously. I would add nick protection though, that people cannot use a nickname on the frontpage that is already registered on the forum.

Perhaps when I've done that I will also include email comment validation for anonymous users like Joystiq and 360FB have, that would probably eliminate some of the stupidest comments. Thing is that I like the anonymous comments very much and the low barrier they give to good discussions, and hell yeah we like a good flamewar now and then ;)

Also the news is fine (speed and quality), the flamewars are fun. Non nonsense approach to the writing as you may get with some larger affiliated groups. And enough blind PS3 fan boys to keep me entertained all day at work.

Yeah again im on here once a day, news dont seem slow to me! This has the exact same forum layout as a website called www.digitalspy.co.uk so im familiar with it, but a better front page interface like Digital Spy would look sooooo much better

I love this site I was just commenting that because I had seen the arcade stick news a couple days earlier. but I love this fuckin site it gets me through my work day :D...I will submit news more often I did once and didn’t see any posts, and I figure if I’m seeing it then you guys must already have hundreds of submissions for the same news (people just love to see their names in the credit section)

I've never understood this obsession people have with who gets the news out there quickest.
I check xboxic every day. It's my first port of call for all things 360 before I head off to the official xbox forum to see what the fanboys are dribbling about.
The reason I check out xboxic is because I like the crisp layout of the place and the simple fact that the news stories are usually relevant. I've never noticed whether the news is "late" or anything because I've stopped checking out other sites for news these days, got sick of the anti-Sony bullshit that was usually embedded along with the actual news.

I'll tell you what though, this forum is damn slow. I expected it to be much more active than it actually is.

I'm a new member and general rule of thumb for forums is that a new member who comes in and posts here, there and everywhere pretty much gets his ass flamed.

To be honest, that looks messy to me 8)7 I'm not entirely impartial obviously, having designed our current frontpage to be clean, crisp and non-nonsense, but that site is far too crammed for me :) And well everyone likes different things:

Do the traffic stats indicate less or more visitors week on week?We're still growing mad actually (think 10~20% per month). I'm not handing out precise numbers, but as a general indicator: 160GB outgoing traffic per month reaching 200.000 unique visitors :)

I love this site I was just commenting that because I had seen the arcade stick news a couple days earlier. Can't always be first :) The "this news is so old" syndrome exists on every site, for various reasons. Perhaps 5 of our editors didn't consider something important enough until a 6th found it 5 days later and wondered why we didn't have a post on it yet? Or 5 editors didn't write a piece because they were waiting for a specific one that could do it more justice? Stuff like that happens behind the scenes, and although we have a good organization with a newsqueue and very active news submitters (thnx all, you know who you are ;) ) it simply does happen that we miss stuff or misjudge importance. Yeah well, if it really was important we'll just cover it a few days late and make sure you stay informed anyway :)

I'll tell you what though, this forum is damn slow. I expected it to be much more active than it actually is. It's just terribly hard to get a good community going. You can't advertise people to come here and have a good time, that'll have to come from the users. All we can do as crew is participate actively and make sure new members feel at home, and that's what we (strive to) do. Your job as an enthousiastic user is to let all your friends register here ;)

I think it's great, not too fanboyish. I think xboxscoop is great but that's just a news aggregator which often repeats and has things I don't care about - I don't want to have to trawl through "New FIFA 07 Soccer Screenshots" etc just to get to the good stuff. Even if all the Xboxic staffers did was scroll through xboxscoop and pick the good things to report on, that's still a useful service for me, but there's a heck of a lot of original content here too - the reviews are particularly good.

Incidentally I've been keeping an eye on the ICGamers XML feed and noticed it's still mostly 360 stuff being posted - drop me a PM if you'd like some assistance on Wii news reporting ;)

And to stay on topic, really like the site, still think it will take a while for the forum to really start "living". But like Curry said, it takes some time to get a large community. And I'm sure it will happen in time. Being created by Dutch people is a big plus, since Dutch people rule ( :') )

Sometimes think that the news is a little slow, but then again I am one of the the people who could contribute by submitting news, which I must say, I dont do on a regulair basis.

I like where the site is going, one main site with three sub sites. Keep up the good work is all I have to say.

Anyway... I personally love the site. There isn't much I would change. I don't think you guys are slow. You post what needs to be posted and damn fast in my opinion. Maybe a weekly article posted on Saturday or Sunday (the two slowest days) would be a good idea. Something along the lines of a weekly round-up. Such as, the highlights of the week.
