View Full Version : Have to be signed into Live to play Arcade games?

Guess what? I have a crap internet service, I think I might have mentioned that a couple of times :D

Anyway, it's quite difficult for me to get on Live at the moment, the connection keeps just cutting out. Not too worrying I thought, I'll just play offline and arcade games. The problem is, when I'm not signed into Live it says that all my arcade games are just demos, it's only when I'm signed in that I can play the full games. Is there any way around this?

Edit: It looks like the problem is slightly different to what I first thought. The games which say Trial Version are Bejeweled, Geometry Wars, Hardwood Hearts and Marble Blast - all the ones I bought before I changed my gamertag. So I'm guessing that's what it is. But still... is there any way I can re-register these against the correct gamertag?

Have you tried deleteing the games and redownloading them off live. It shouldn't cost you any extra.

More likely to be that you've had your original console replaced, rather than just a change of Gamertag. Changing your GT doesn't affect the XBLA games as long as they're on the original machine you downloaded them on.

If you've had your console replaced with a refurb or new one due to failure you have to contact Microsoft customer support to get full XBLA offline functionality sorted out. Good luck.

Oh actually yeah, I had my machine changed earlier in the year. Finally, something which isn't the fault of my internet provider 8)7

Ya, the problem is, the Arcade games are tied to both your Gamertag and your console. Therefore, if you change consoles, you can re-download the games for nothing since they are registered as paid from your Gamertag, but you have to be connected to Live to play for security reasons.

To sort the problem, you need to create a new account (silver member) and contact MS who will give you however many points you need to get all your games back. Download them using the new account and voila, you can play offline again.

Phew, hope that helps!
