I can't compare graphics, but i can say that these look seriously real. With a glance, they could be mistaken for movie quality. NOW maybe i don't know what i'm talking about, but graphics like that make me dizzy.

there were some shots in oxm, someone posted them on the gamespot forums but i cant get their search to work, otherwise i'd post a link. it looks pretty good but cod2 got me hooked on the run and gun rather than the tactical-ness of BIA.

OMFG!! Just downloaded the 800MB 720p demo movie that hit the marketplace today and all I can say is OMFG! If they fix those minor framerate issues, this game will be so awesome!
The demo takes place in Eindhoven at the beginning of Operation Market Garden and it really looks like old Holland with the traffic signs and stuff.. The graphics are amazing and everyting looks awesome..! Download this movie now!
PS: OMFG!

I'll grab them tonight to have a look. For me the game will have to do something special to make me want to buy it, I feel like I've spent more time in WW2 games than the real soldiers did.
Incidentally, I must've missed Brothers In Arms 2? I played "Hill 400" on the Xbox, was there a sequel?

That framerate is shocking.
IF they sort that, it'll be the best looking game on the 360 no question.

I tell you, Framerate aside, with the things that happen in that walkthrough, that blows anything out of the water that I've seen already out or upcoming.
That includes GOW, that includes Bioshock, that includes EVERYTHING.#
I can't believe all that goes on, when that solider fell over the wall, and his mate went to pick him up i swear i nearly ejaculated.

Couldn't agree with you more VerbalKint. I had to pick up my jaw after watching it.. Although some things looked kinda scripted, like the chimney dropping right in front of you, but that doesn't spoil the fun. It didn't spoil it in Half Life 2, so..
This baby goes straight to the top of my pre-orders.. Yes, even above Gears of War. I like the realism more then the fantasy.

Yea, I was dissapointed the the game was a little jumpy, but besides that it looked amazing. Besides, its got plenty of time to fix up the framerate. And if it does, something may finally overtake the thrown for best WWII gamne over Call of Duty.

If they fix up that frame rate it'll beat COD2, COD3 and Medal of honour put together.

Impressive :)
Funny too: the game mostly takes place in Eindhoven, and in the beginning you see a sign that they're in the "Woenselschestraat". That's about 500m from where I live, and the game actually looks convincingly like the older parts of the city here :)

This game definitley looks apeshit. Theres a video for it (First one released I believe) where an allied soldier in front of you gets one in the head and falls over into your arms, and you can see right into the bullet wound. Best explosion I have ever seen as well. I would say this game is in league with Offset in terms of graphical quality, and would def make any 360-hater shut their mouth when you play this game in front of them. THIS is the game to show off your 360.

This game has one big advantage to GoW imo. Gears has the Halo virus which I hate big time. It's the "I'll empty a clip on an enemy, reload and empty it again and maybe he's dead before the second clip is empty - virus". :r

I am considering picking it up, but since I got Too Human I have not played many other games. NHL 09, NHL 2K9, LEGO Batman, Unreal Tournament III, The Force Unleashed, Civ Revolution, Soul Calibur IV, Viva Pinata 2 and the Bourne Conspiracy are all games I have purchased since starting to play Too Human and all have sit idly by waiting for me to finish my fixation on Too Human. So maybe I will wait that I am tired of Too Human before picking up this game.

It's delayed till 10.10. or 16.10. but it seems that it has been shipped at least to reviewers, possibly stores as well.

Nope, not my kind of game. But since reviews have already been posted and pirated versions have been out for a while I'd say it's a pretty solid guess.
With that beeing said, it's probably not too hard to find a retailer willing to ignore the new release date. Still curious about why they delayed it after shipping. Kind of an odd thing to do imho.

Actually it wasn't Ross. It really IS delayed (last minute) for 2 weeks but I guess many retailers didn't get the memo in time. Let me see if I can dig up some more info on the subject.
*Update*
Seems only the PC version was delayed. Also there are conflicting reports about a delay of the german version and a lot of retailers have nfc right now which versions are delayed and which are on time.

Ross you're pretty honest...can you let me know if it is something worth buying after you've given it a go. The TV ad looks good, but with CoD5 being another WW2 game I didn't want to be too consumed with history titles...but if it's excellent I'll nab it

Hmm OK I've played enough to formulate an opinion, so here goes.
Multiplayer is weird and nothing like CoD4, so if you're getting it primarily for that, don't bother.
Single player is, well, OK in parts, shit in parts, but never really fantastic. The whole squad command thing is cool, and it works well, but the suppressing-then-flanking mechanic soon becomes tiresome. It's quite a slow, methodical game as opposed to your run and gun of CoD. Graphics wise, well the frame rate is consistently bad. Just shows what a fantastic job IW did. Sometimes BiA will look quite good, then you'll look in the opposite direction and be met with the blandest of bland textures which is quite frightening, something that I assumed would have been erased considering how long the game has been in development for.
Cover system works well, that's cool and the controls are just fine too. I'm not wholly disappointed because at the end of the day it's more of a thinking man's game, deciding where the best places are to order your men and what not. But it just becomes a tad samey, and after a while you'll get bored and just give up.
It's a shame because it can be fun in short bursts, but the hit detection doesn't always seem to be accurate, and despite your ally's best efforts, it's always you that will do the majority of the killing still.
So if you're waiting on CoD 5, don't bother. If you love tactical stuff and like being bossy, this will tide you over. But I wouldn't recommend it for insta-fun.

Thank you. My gut instinct was to just cancel my pre-order when I did, but then I started regretting it because the power of TV advertising works well !!!
Seeing as only a month and a bit to CoD5 now - I can wait for a new war game and will probably get back on Halo for a bit then...

I have been playing BiA:HH and will also voice my short review. This game took a bit of getting used to. It did not help that this was the first non-hockey game I played after more than a month of Too Human gaming were my helper troops are all but useless. In Hell's Highway, you really need to let your troups do most of all the dirty work, and you just need to know how to deploy your troups. The game does require you to think about what would you do if this was a real war scenario, for if you try to run and gun it, like most Call of Duty games, you will die.
I have to agree with Rossko_UK that the game does get repetative as you will die quite often till you learned how to porperly flank the enemy but I was way to busy not dying to notice any bland textures or framerate slowdown. To me the game looked amazing and all action kept a nice and steady pace.
All in all Brothers is Arms: Hell's Highway is a great tactical shooter that will challenge you and make you want to scream.
If you like your wargames to play out like a game of chess on juice, then you will enjoy this game. But if you like your wargames to be like Unreal Tournament with a WWII skin, you will hate this game.
Hope that helps.
(I should have a full review on my website in a week or so).

Well wooden covers get destroyed pretty quickly, everything else isn't destructible (except for sand bag placements, but only an RPG round will destroy it).

If you're reviewing the game, you SHOULD have time to stop and check it out. At times you don't even need to stop; you can see the choppy-ness just in some cutscenes. Awful tearing. The graphics are nice in places sure, but come on, a review of any game should incorporate everything; take a look around and you'll soon notice the lack of detail on some textures. If you don't, well, you need new eyes or something.

I played the first two levels of the game and gotta say I like it so far. What has really impressed me so far is how important commanding your squad is. For me most FPS's where you command your squad seems fairly pointless and an added function that gets in the way instead of actually assisting in getting through a level but not in Brothers in Arms.
Its shame with the talk about the levels being samey cause I think where the game really shines is when you hang back have an elevated position to look over the battle field and can quickly order your units from cover to cover or flank while providing long range cover fire. But if the layout is gonna be the same I can see it getting old quickly.
Oh well I look forward to continuing on and see for myself as well as trying out the multiplayer.

The campaign mode is really good, I am getting quite into it...reminds me of Bad Company a little without the jokes. Achievements popping up all over the place!!
Multiplayer is fucking cum-shot-in-the-eye awful... what is it with crap maps on new games. The maps in this are worse to look at than CoD2 visually.
I so would NOT pay £39.99 for this - metal case or not! Glad it was ebay cheapo!

I am loving the single player mode. It has been put together very well. I do like the option of GRAW style ordering your troops about to clear the way.
Call of Duty could benefit with that...
Pointless me getting the previous ones now, but I would buy future versions.
