View Full Version : Why is the xbox.com forum full of THICK people??

I ran a post on the xbox.com forum
http://forums.xbox.com/7577708/ShowPost.aspx
about needing friends list update. I categorically state I don't want to use the appear offline function as it shows ALL - yes ALL of my friends that Im offline. I want a block and unblock system so that I can be offline to some and online to others.

It's not that they are idiots, they just don't really see your problem.
I don't really see your problem myself, if you don't want to play someone when they ask then just "decline", they wont feel offended. Well they shouldn't anyway, I don't when my invites get declined.
Sometimes I am watching a film and I get an invite, which I'll ignore till after the film. I am not going to drop everything just because someone wants a game of whatever.
Or if you don't want any invites coming in just appear offline.
If you really don't want to play someone specific then it's best just deleting them off the list.

Hopefully a similar MSN system will be introduced in the future because the purpose of blocking and unblocking options to let some people know you are online and let others think you're not is very useful.

Honestly thank god for xboxic.com - whoever is responsible for setting up this site deserves a thank you!
That'd be userid 1 I suppose - you're welcome :+
Why is it full of thick people, at least here you can get a normal responce. Xbox.com has the problem that it doesn't have any kind of moderation or rule enforcement. And it lacks an IQ-check at registration.
There - Ive had my rant!! Did it feel good? :P
UKJAY
October 24th, 2006, 21:44
Yeah...
Ive posted numerous comments on xbox.com over the last 12 months and each time with every thread, there is just tons of people lurking to get a chance to pick what you've said to bits and then try and make an argument out of what you say.
Im done with the xbox.com forum now, it's just not normal.

So tell me, if you get this feature...you're going to go to every single person on your list and change them to 'can see me' or 'can't see me' every single time you sign onto Xbox live? Sounds like a lot of work.
You're sitting there at night, not wanting person A, F, T, and Q person to see you playing X game. The next morning, you're telling me that you're going to go to every single friend in your list and change their 'status' back to 'can see me' because you're fickle in thinking this person's okay to see me online, but that person isn't.....
welljasona, you're getting so much trouble from this forum and Xbox.com's forum because we don't care whether this person sees I'm playing this game or that person sees me playing that game. We're not insane/paranoid like you. With such a niche audience (yourself) it's hard to say if Microsoft will be creating a live feature just for you. Hope for the best.

Sounds like a valid reason man, having been in a clan on several games and having other friends that aren't in the clan, I would have loved to be able to hide myself from clan members when i didn't wanna do clan stuff and my clan leader bugging me constantly. and vice versa for those times when im in a clan match and don't want to be bothered by non clan friends but still want all my clanmates to see me.
I would imagine when Live anywhere gets launched fullspeed we will have these options. Until then we just do what everyone who wants something from MS does....... wait }:O

Xboxic is the only forum that is not filled with trolls only looking to start a flame war.
I like it here that I can post a comment and it not be all twisted around. I like it that I can post that I think it was a mistake to purchase a console (or game) and not be called a loser/fanboy/moron etc...
I get a feeling that everyone just about knows everyone else that post on Xboxic (well I am starting to know some of you).
I have only been here a short time, but as long as this site is in existance, I will be around.

Yes the xboxic forum is very different to others, I picked that up a long time ago - its why I started this thread last October. The whole ICgamers team is pretty much non biased I guess cos they post news and have forums for all console formats. I often pop up on the comments pages between all three websites. Nobody picks you to bits, but if they do - theres a reason other than just a quick insult cos you like something they dont.

Been up against the Viva Pinata lovers all defending themselves, their sexuality and masculinity for loving a game for girls. I declared it a game for those who need a matching scarf...not a gay comment but meaning how could a man in his late twenties and some in their 40's love a game like that without perhaps being a bit feminine...
Well the comment may just be a tad shortsighted :+ My 29-year old rather bald self paid for the game and likes it. I completely fail to see the feminine part about, or the homosexual aspect you are implying with the scarf comment. It's Sim City or Populous with papier-mache animals and a well balanced world with lots of ways to influence what happens in there.
The fundamental question is: would Gears of War be a bad shooter if Marcus Phoenix was a papier-mache horse filled with candy? The setting would be 'surprising' to say the least, but it wouldn't make it any less a good game, just as Viva Pinata doesn't suffer from its cutesy setting. Hell, imagine Viva Pinata with Marcus and Dom running around a ravaged post-apocalyptic world 8)7 :D

I played the demo yesterday.:D visually its brilliant to look at in HD, I've only ever been that surprised by visuals with two games. VP & Gears...
Gameplay wise it's not my thing, but im not totally image conscious - just my jobs require me to look, act, be a certain way and I guess it can spill over...
on a personal note, Im struggling to come to terms with approaching 30. Im not really totally sure why, but I just wish now I'd stop thinking about it and just hurry up and be 30, get it over and done with.

Yeah some people live sad lives. I can make tons of mistakes at times, like typing too fast can screw my words up.
