I have the 360 wireless headset coming to me by next week, although it is Japanese - does anyone have any idea if it would work with a UK Xbox360 ???

Im guessing it probably would? but I still have doubts so if anyone knows anything it can be posted here.

Thanks

well from what i read about the update it means there's 2 charging bars on the 360 menu so it might use the wireless controller energy or have a place for batteries .

it should work though because it doesnt need a mains power supply even so a stepdown does the trick .

good luck and hope you have fun using it.

I think it charges either with a plug and/or a USB. It comes with a jap plug adapter but the small end that plugs into the headset is like the very small USB end that plugs into a PSP, but I'm guessing that realisticly it'll probably use the same adapter that comes with the 'quick charge' stand

Hooray! A member on my friends list from Canada bought one and sent me pics of it. It uses a seperate adapter that looks like a mobile phone charging plug - and it comes with another earpiece in grey.

Apparently it's a waste of money.

That's a pretty poor review! Mine was shipped from Jap to the UK today and I'll have it by next week. I know that the RF frequencies within the xbox are affected by microwaves and close by radio's / baby monitors. It uses the same technology that those wireless video sender/receivers use. My Canada friend had no static, but I wouldn't say it was improved voice quality - just the same quality as an ordinary mic. I personally think the improved quality is some gimmick in the fall update, as Im sure they've made things sound a little bit louder rather than clearer. Im pretty much a realist, when mine arrives over here and if it's crap! then I'll write about it

I'm confused, why would you want a wireless headset? Not like the wire from the default headset goes very far (unless you have *really* long arms and hold your controller really far away from your body).

When I'm sitting in a chair and I want to stand up or sit in a different position or whatever, the wire is ALWAYS bothering me. I can't stand those horrific wires since the wireless Xbox 360 controller.

Yeah also those wires get twisted and more times than not split inside so you have to wiggle the wire a bit to get you mic working. Also I hate the thing that goes over you head like ear muffs!!

Hi everyone - as you know Im in the UK and was very excited about the wireless headset, especially after I have already gone through 3 wired ones!! Its not officially out over here until 21st November, and today is 6th November - I was tempted to see how much I'd get on ebay for it, but changed my mind as I was desperate to see how different it was from the wired versions.

The headset is the same colour as the console and fits over the left or right ear very comfortably. The mouth piece actually sits under your earlobe and is not extendable. The voice quality is amazing as it picks up a whisper, expecially considering that the mic is not anywhere near your mouth at all - its fantastic and not crap at all!!!! Mine came fully charged and uses a 5.2volt adapter that is like a nokia phone charger.

Connecting to the console was very simple. You press the wireless search button on the console and push and hold the same small button on the ear piece. The lights on the console and earpiece flash and then you're connected. As soon as you connect the guide displays the battery level on screen which I imagine is very handy.

I showed this little gadget off in UNO and I don't send or receive any static like others have reported. Its strong, sturdy, wirefree and yes I can walk around the house upstairs and downstairs whilst talking to someone.

I love it and would highly suggest everyone gets one, or even more than one.

If you do get one off play-asia, you would need to buy from an electrical shop one of those travelling abroad plug adapter things that allows you to plug japanese, euro, american plug sockets into our UK plug sockets. Mine was £3 about a year ago, I needed one for my Jap PSP, so I knew I was able to use the same one for this.

Does the wireless headset turn itself off automatically after a period of time?

Does the wireless headset turn itself off automatically after a period of time?

It turns itself off when it's not needed to be on. Its not on constantly. Like in UNO it clicks off when you're browsing the custom games available and clicks in your ear as on when you've just got into a game - and then say you go back to the dashboard, it'll click off again.

Basically it stays as ON when in anything that has a chat mode available, then it turns itself off when you just don't need to use it - but it don't turn off mid chat or anything like that

Also for anyone wanting to order one via play-asia.com like I did. The adapter that comes bundled inside the headset pack provided by MS is a PSM03R type which has interchangable plug bits. If you're in the UK rather than buy a new plug or multi-adapter or travel plug converter - you can buy one of the interchange clips from: http://www.wattpowersolutions.com/product_info.php?cPath=32&products_id=52

which only costs £2.00

I HATE the wired headset; the wire annoys me and it's an uncomfortable low quality piece of crap. The wireless unit is pretty comfortable, it would have been better if it was a little lighter but that's about my only gripe. My biggest concern was remebering if i was muted or not. Lukily the unit emits a soft beep every so often to remind you when you're on mute and it's never a problem whatsoever.

I'm glad i got it.

Yeah im glad I got my wireless too, I know a lot of people complained about static, BUT I have only had that in UNO when it starts a new game after waiting in the lobby awhile - and every time its only at that point when it says..."Starting Game.." so I think it's an UNO problem rather than a microphone one

Suffering huge static with my UK headset.... Poor quality sound too, however the sound from the wired headset is so much better at the moment, its strange, taking my headset back to GAME to get a replacement.

I am constantly told to unplug my headset because of the feedback so I called XBOX.

I bought the headset on 11/01/06 at Gamestop and they do not take back opened merchandise after 14 days, so I called 1-800-4-MY- XBOX and after telling them that I wasn't using a wireless phone or microwaving food and that crap, I asked to talk to a supervisor. They told me they only back up what comes in the 360 console bundles and that I need to deal with the retailer. I told "Supervisor" Jeff 6037 that the store won't take it back and he said he could not help me. I then said "So I have a $60 paper weight" and he said "yes". So Microsoft doesn't back their products unless it comes in the system bundle?

Has anyone ever encountered this? What do you think I should do about this bull**it?

FYI - I do have the service contract, but that only covers the system bundle.

Did it not come with any kind of limited warranty? at least 90 days usually. Check the paperwork that came in the inpenetrateable plastic tomb called a container that your headset came in
