Advice sought: recovering info from old 360 to new one

Okay it looks like my 360 has decided to die on me. No red lights of doom, but it refuses to read just about any DVD disc I throw in (game or movie). Not a huge deal as it's still under warranty, so it should just be a simple exchange at the store (I bought the extended warranty through the store).

My question: how do I get all my content from my current 360 to my new 360? Is there any trick to getting my gamercard & the like on the new machine? What about purchased XBLA games?

To get your current gamertag on your new 360 simply use the “recover gamertag” feature. XBLA games you’ve purchased with this gamertag can be re-downloaded without having to cough up more MS points. And the easiest way to transfer your savegames is to use a mem card.
