I thought this was common knowledge but Messiah didn't know and he's usually aware of these things so I thought I'd share.
Microsoft had a lot of Xbox 1 Live Starterkits in stores over the past couple of years, it contained a game, the superior Xbox 1 headset (which works like a charm on a 360, just lacks mute button and volume dial) and one year of Xbox Live. Since the 360's launch they've become scarce but if you do some searching you could stumble across one. Buy it!
There was one in the bargain bin of a local toy store here, was laying there for a couple of months, and I finally decided to pick it up. The tag said 30 bucks, the girl at the counter said it was 15 bucks (dunno why) and when I came home I managed to prolong my Live subscription with a year, use the superior headset on my 360 and the game that came with it (Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow) was backwards compatible.
So, if you need to prolong your Live subscription, which you probably will, be sure to be on the lookout for these starter kits.
