Due to Killzone 2 sucking ass, and Call of Duty 5 being impossible on vet, and Gamefly renting out all their copies of a game on release day...

I bought Star Ocean: The Last Hope last night, because I figured itd be a month and a half before I saw it through Gamefly...

and i fucking love it.
A selling point for me was when I read it's most likely going to outsell Blue Dragon in Japan. Win!

I played for about 5.5 hours last night, and tho theres some slight complaints with the voice localization, i LOVE the game. the 'Bonus Board' for battles makes grinding levels / gold a lot more fun, as the player has some control over what theyre grinding for. (Theres 4 colored tiles that can be placed on your board. 1 gives xp bonuses, 1 skill point bonuses, 1 gold increase, 1 mp/hp refill. you have to satisfy different conditions in order to earn each tile, like finish an enemy with a crit to get a blue-xp bonus.)

I'm extremely happy w/ my 64$ pickup.

I meant the game being called Sonic's ultimate collection instead of Genesis ultimate collection Chris.Offcourse I know Mega Drive is called Genesis in the States and some games have different names too.

Also I repeat that if you look at the mega drive collection pal box you can see games like Story of Thor still have their american names.


A master system collection would indeed be a brilliant idea Jason! I played Alex Kidd in the miracle world and the sonic games so much on it.

Is Star Ocean fixed turned based or does it have a real time system Augustus?Do you drive spaceships or go around exploring areas?

it's very Tales of Vesperia ish. you go into a little fight screen like a typical rpg, but its a real time fight at that point.

you control 1 character while the rest are on auto, and can switch between them using R1/L1.

I'm not sure about the overworld map / if i get a spaceship to maneuver. So far ive been presented with one giant map/forest/dungeon to explore, which I couldve gone through in 1/3 of the time that i took, because I went in the little dead ends and stuff to level up / find chests.

I don't want to say it's been 'linear' so far, as there have been areas I can explore for fun, but it isn't sandbox yet.

Yeah download it, i keep playing it. Lots of little things add together to make it really fun, just a matter of figuring out how to do some of the more obscure things that really add to the fun.
