I think there's no need to panic unless it occurs more frequently. A simple speck of dust may have caused a read error, making the 360 believe it can't read the disc, or something like that.
So unless it happens again within a short time I wouldn't worry ![]()

I've actually gotten this error a few times with Viva Pinata (multiple discs)..
The discs have the 360 content on it but also have a regular DVD video structure on them to play when the disc isn't in a 360, informing the use that the disc needs to be used on 360 hardware (when you get error message hitting any button brings up the media playback control bar, leading me to assume its a DVD structure that its playing as that would make the most sense). When the system doesn't pick up on whatever authentication method the 360 uses (physical differences? authentication track?) it'll play it as a regular DVD, giving you the message in question. I could be completely wrong as I haven't tested this theory, but I figured I might as well add my thoughts/experience. |

[WALL OF TEXT ALERT]
Ok, I had this problem, thought nothing of it. It happened with DOA4. So after a while (few weeks) it said it again, and again, and again, and again, and again. Untill the point where it would say it like 20-30 times (no joke) before the game would load, and it got worse. EVERY 360 title just had the same problems, I had this problem for months. Then Gears Of War came out. I was sick to death of trying to load the shit. Then after a while, the 360 refused to even recognize anything was in the machine at all, it would just say "please wait" and then it would just return back to "Open Tray." I got so pissed off I got the game out of the disk drive, turned the 360 upside down and beat the shit out of it till it loaded(NOT RECOMENDED YOU TRY THIS). I had to do that EVERY time I wanted to play ANY 360 game. So after a week of doing that with GOW, I returned my 360 to GAME, and got a new one. Now GOW won't let me play Single Player as the "disk is unreadable." |

Your problem is inside the DVD drive, and there's either dirt on the laser eye, or the spinning mechanism and the laser are dislocated. By far most probably the second, considering the problem got worse over time. That can only be fixed with a new drive ![]() Essentially, if it happens once or twice like in the topicstarter's case, consider it a speck of dust. Heck I had it in Oblivion this week, the game just crashed back to dashboard saying that the disc was unreadable. I haven't called for my fifth 360 yet tho ![]()
