Default Gears of War Patch

So I was just curious about everyone's opinions on the patch that was recently released for Gears of War. In my recent experience of playing after the patch was applied, the online experience has gotten worse and I actually dislike the game.

I have been an avid gamer of GOW since it came out but since the patch I have experienced more lag, more disconencts, and my XBOX will freeze sometimes when hosting. It also seems like they increased the damage of the lancer as you are able to down an opponent within a half of a clip versues a whole clip. It also appears all the glitching is still there but I am not sure.

Let me know what you think.

The "House Cleaning", I love. Not being able to stack Ranked games is awesome. The ability to communicate with everyone after each individual round is awesome, as opposed to the dead only talking to the dead / alive only talking to alive like before.

The new maps? Awesome. It seems like all the old maps had 2 engagement areas, one at each weapon. The closest map to having one would have been Gridlock, where you have clear view of both big guns. Maybe that's why it was played so much? These new maps are created with engaging the enemy in mind. Both have one central area, (heck, Raven Down IS one central area.) forcing all combatants to it. It's great. You no longer have to watch / wait for the round to Draw while one person is on the Right side of the mansion, his enemy on the Left.

Great new maps. Great patch.

The patch has caused more issues with the game for sure. I have seen the looping countdown at the start of a match since this patch and that was supposed to be fixed. I also have had my XBOX freeze on me when starting matches. Prior to the patch there was a bug that caused the match to be 5 on 3. It only happened a couple times to me and was comcical at best. This scenerio happened 2 times yesterday and instead of the match starting 5 on 3 it locked my XBOX and booted everyone.
Disconnect messages are worse. I dont know if this is maybe due to everyeon trying the new maps/patch at once. I also am not seeing any reduction is glitching. It would have been nice for EPIC to release the fact that the lancer would become more powerful. Everyone gets a suprise when they join matches after applying the patch and get killed by a few lancer shots.

I've heard that people with SDTVs are having tons of problems. Me, I don't give a damn. I got an HDTV.

Never got a chance to play it online before the patch because of Orange Broadband couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

But I have had none of the problems/glitches I have read about, granted connection has went down occasionally but this seems to only be when someone leaves mid-match, and I cannot complain with the way the lag is dealt with (I.E. everyones connection is halted at the same time and goes back up at the same time, as opposed to the Battlefield method where players appear and dissappear all over the map and stutter about like they are taking a fit.

So all in all, don't know about the previous problems but I ain't got no problems with it once I got online and it's one fucking great game.

Talking Re: Gears of War Patch

I'll have to say the day of the patch I had plenty of problems and lag to boot, that said I haven't had much in the way of problems after the first day.
I'm digging the changes that were made with the patch and the new maps. I'm not sure how much I like Raven down though, it's a little too quick and seems to favor frag taggers, which can get old. Old Bones kicks ass, I'm pretty happy with this map and have included it in all rotations I have been playing.
On this note I look forward to future maps and content to further the gruesome bliss that is GOW.
