Post Marketplace blindfold

I hate to admit it, I like changing up my Theme and gamertag picture. As very few of these are free on marketplace I have to use my well earned (turnin trix on the corner of course) microsoft points to aquire them. The problem I run into is there is no way to preview what you are buying within marketplace itself. This has led to a some buyers remorse in certain situations and other times I feel like I was completely bamboozeled (hoodwinked). Therefore I write my formal letter of complaint...

Dear Microsoft persons,
Please include a way of viewing purchases such as gamer pictures and themes without having to look them up on a random website before hand.

Thank you

P.S. I'm putting your fucking kids through college...

said the man who traded his his sports car for the last McRib: 'i have eh dee buyers a-remorse'.
while its the best online service out there, it aint perfect.
the lack of previewability is definately an irk.
Microsoft would also benefit from handing out some code for a more halo esque matchmaking systems all over the board.

i honestly dont get a theme or gamerpics unless they are free though...
poverty, i embraceth thee.

The reasons for not putting in a browser are quite similar to those for not including mouse+keyboard support in FPS: keep the games machine for games. Also, including a browser would bring the 360 outside its trusted Xbox Live connectivity sandbox, thus presenting a lot of security risks that are far from trivial.

However, recent surveys have indicated afaik that many people do want a web browser on their 360 for some reason (I highly doubt many people will ever really use it after the gimmick value wears off), so I'd expect MS to be working on it.

What about all the movies and tv show crap they offer now? Those don't have to do with games.

http://www.dashboardthemes.com/

Awesome site to see before you purchase!!!

Ever heard of a laptop?

How many Wii owners actually use the Opera browser, out of interest?

I use it, for porn (or any other video sites) a lot actually. No media center needed to stream flash video to my tv. It's quite simple.

It's also really nice just to browse through digg to see what's going on.

So on a slightly related topic to the current conversation but not the name of the thread.

How exactly can you play retro Nintendo titles if you don't have a HD with the Wii to save them to?

They save to the internal memory, you cannot save them to any external memory cards. You can however save the save game within the game to the card.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

I've heard a few things over the past year of allowing you to link up to FAQ pages directly from the 360, since that would indeed be the most interesting thing to do with a console browser.
