Since MS has yet to implement the long-rumoured but somewhat controversial DivX support in the 360, us 360 gamers are forced to either revert to 3rd party solutions like Tversity or to convert our AVIs to MS's WMV format if we want to watch downloaded TV shows through our 360. I don't like the former option as it forces me to leave on my very noisy P4 computer to watch shows (transcoding needs a beefy machine), so converting to WMV is preferred (as I can stream them from my older but much quieter computer to the 360).
Okay, long story short, I can convert AVI's to WMV's using Windows Movie Maker, but this is *SLOW* (like on the order of 2-3 hours for a 45 minute TV show on the aforementioned Pentium 4 3GHz machine). Does anybody know any *free* (as in beer, but as in speech would be nice as well) tools for converting DivX AVI's to WMV format that do the job faster (but still maintain good quality)? Thanks... |

If you want to convert avi to wmv, you could try AVI WMV MPEG Converter. It can convert AVI, WMV, MPEG to AVI, WMV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and RM files with one click. You could find the guide and faq of the software here http://www.qweas.com/download/video_...rter_guide.htm
