Default Gears of War Gotcha Down? Heres what I propose.... .

I hope you find this post acceptable, Curry. SPAM, by the way, is a pork by-product (yep, we were both wrong).

I think what happened with Gears of War, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.......is pretty simple. Your typical whiners and complainers who do not enjoy playing the games because of the way they are set up are going to go and post their whining and complaining on any and every message board they can get their hands on- and cry, cry, cry.

Since the people who are happy with the game the way it is are too busy playing the damn thing to go and post a message on a message board about how great they think it is, their voice is never heard. The content are quiet in their contentment. They bought the game, they play the game, is this not enough??The only voice the game companies actually hear is the whiners and complainers, the loners, the crybabies. So they assume, wrongly - I believe - this is how the majority of gamers feel about said game.

I never wanted to go on a forum and argue with people about whether or not they thought other people should be allowed to play in ranked games with their friends on Xbox Live (a place for friends).

I want to see my stats, and I want my points for playing. I want RANKED AND I want to play with my friends. No one is going to change my mind on this issue, period.

That's why we started the petition -if you're already of like mind and you're passionate enough about the issue- but you don't want to be one person on a message forum arguing with one other person (who generally just wants to argue for the sake or arguing anyway) about something you're genuinely interested in changing and then have the topic buried when the next more interesting post comes up........... . ... then you're going to sign it . ... ..and if enough people sign it...it's going to be seen, and if it's seen, it's going to make a difference.

Now, I know you (Curry) say online petitions don't work...... ..and you can think what you want to think (especially since you own this bitch). But I happen to know of one online petition that certainly seems like it did work. It was the "Save Metallica from Bob Rock Petition" - it got over 60,000 signatures- and although Metallica never ever acknowledged it was there.. .they changed producers (Rick Rubin) didn't they...??? Hmmmm...interesting. And Bob Rock was like family....

I think if the people speak, they will be heard....period. It's just that there has to be enough people speaking. They don't have to legally verify signatures..they don't have to acknowledge the petition...it's just out there...and if enough people know about it. the everybody ends up knowing about it..(word of mouth).and then they may realize what the true consensus is among their customer base..that's the goal.

Nobody is stopping the whiners and complainers from getting their own petition going they just probably don't have any friends to spread the word to. .... .... .but, I would encourage them to do so anyway. If the majority of people REALLY don't want to play on Xbox Live (a place for friends) in ranked squad based games with their friends...they could voice their opinion in that way.... . ..It's called a poll... .and it seems to me that it really wouldn't be all that hard for Xbox Live to poll it's customers on these issues anyway... ..before they institute major changes in games.....hello....

What a shame, you actually started a good discussion for 90% of that post and then screwed it up in the last paragraph

The fact that I never IP-banned you and offered a discussion should've made clear that I'm not in this business to call you names or take away your voice. Hell I even stated explicitly that you had a valid point with the complaint itself.

On the petitions, even assuming Metallica did change producers because of the petition (highly unlikely, would you jeopardize a personal and professional relationship even if 600000 people told you to?), that's exactly 1 out of tens of millions of petitions online. Whoo.

Speaking on Metallica - I wouldn't ASSUME anything Curry - but talk to any Metallica fan, there is a yearning for the days prior to the black album, prior to Bob Rock, - but I digress (as this is not a music site) I would only propose that it is certainly possible.......and why do you close your eyes so much, man? Don't you think these gaming companies WANT to know what their consumers are into?

It's called marketing man, and they spend millions and millions of dollars on it, they know if they are seeing so many people signing on a petition it is only a small percentage of a greater number, and does that greater number exceed the number of those they had heard from previously?? We're just trying to help lead them to the water.

We the gamers are the water, and it is clear that they are not hearing OUR voice.

The voice of a few whiners and complainers, YES, but the majority of the gamers out there? I think not.

Personally I think they could bypass all this bullshit and just go straight to polling the 3 million plus customers that use Xbox Live. Ya think???

Blam. You didn't like the last paragraph? It's gone.

NOW - since online petitions are so useless - how do YOU propose unhappy gamers get their message across to the companies marketing themselves to us?

Write a letter? Post on a message board? Make a phone call? Drive a car thru their front window?

I'm missing your point somewhere. You wonder whether companies are interested in our opinion. Yes they are, and they will ask for it. With a poll and proper marketing research.

I don't see the connection between proper marketing research, focused on retrieving reliable and balanced opinions from a target audience, and a petition, fed by spur-of-the-moment emotions and disbalanced by its very nature of not allowing a countervoice, to be honest

As for Metallica, I've got most of their albums, and I accept and appreciate the fact that they grow in their art and become more mature, instead of becoming parodies of themselves repeating the same trick over and over just to please a small part their audience. I like a song like St. Anger just as much as Trapped under Ice

I wasn't saying they did it because of the petition, I'm saying the petition (the voice of their fans) MAY have had a role in their decision to change producers .... ... ... I mean, the guy played bass on their last album, he was like family, but NOW WHERE IS HE???.... ... secondly I don't think they're are too many petitions out their that people are actually passionate about, so they get little or no signatures. Nobody is going to notice that. It's when you get thousands & thousands and hundreds of thousands . .then people might take notice.

It's better than doing NOTHING.

I want stats too, can't be bothered adding up all my stuff from the leaderboards..

Of course you also can't see what chapters & acts you've finished with Dom, or how many kills with whatever weapon, or even see everything on one page..

STATS PAGE PLEASE!

I couldnt even be bothered to read it all - but as far as im concerned, anybody who is interested in all the specs, tech's, and stats are usually show off's though. Playing friends in a ranked match is unfair - friends can work together to cheat achievements, in ranked at least everybody is neutral to the game.

People are going to cheat achievements anyways. People are going to find a way to play with their friends most of the time regardless of whatever changes they make to the game. On the side of texacutioner i feel ignored by the people that market and control video games. But I've known a few programmers and most of them have their hands tied by corporate. And thats what it all is about, the corporate muscle. Makes the individual seem small and we feel like we have no voice. A petition is one of a few ways that people can really get a unified message that many "individuals" feel and say hey, we are going to hurt your bottom line corporation if you don't listen to us. On the side of Curry a poll seems fine as well. Just getting people to vote is difficult. Does this site get enough visits and is it a big enough voice that a poll would actually be meaningful? Sorry if im getting off point I just hate corporate stuff for the most part. I work in an industry that has to deal with government and corporations and I feel battered from both sides so im bitter.
