Xbox Live - Why so unstable?

Since I got xbox and live (1 year ago), I have noticed a growing trend of games that are mega unstable or its difficult to find a game on live eg: graw, pro evo, vitual tennis, even turtles arcade is mega laggy on four player.
Then you read the PC forums and they are talking about 40 player death matches, when the best we can manage is 10-12 on graw. Does anyone know what causes this and why some games like gears dont have this problem?

There is no lag on any of the PS3 games and its free

TMNT Arcade lagged like shit anyway. I think that's more to do with the game than anything else.

What connection speed do you have out of interest? Also if you can't find a game on Live it's usually because people simply aren't playing the game anymore.

Shame all the games so far for PS3 are shit though.

I dont have a problem at all on Xbox Live. If someone with a crap internet connection hosts a game then there will be lag on any system including PSshit. The solution is host your own games if your connection is good and you wont have any problems.

2.2meg connection. I think your right about it being the games thats the problem but not because no-ones playing them. I think its crappy developers not knowing how or not bothering to use the service properly, the only real 'stable' games are the ones from microsoft game studios, as they are programming the games to use the service properly. Ubisofts 'its the varying connections' stance just doesn't wash with me, not when pgr3, gears etc are stable all the time.

The reason Xbox Live is so inconsistent is because they use a peer to peer network instead of dedicated servers. So, its only as good as the host's connection.

In a word, "sucks" many times. They need to have a setup were you dont pay anything for the peer to peer setup and charge for server Xbox Live. Have it like the Playstation Network.

I never have a issue with Live. Smooth and easy to use. But then again i do have two internet lines runing into my house.

I have a problem wit CoD3... it keeps sayin, could not connect to players or host. its infuriating!

My biggest problem is GRAW2 ranked mode, I just cant get a game started for ages and ages. Anyone else have that problem - for me it's only GRAW2

I experience those problems when I'm trying to join any match other than Team Sharpshooter.

Can host's kick you out...I get the ejected from server message constantly.

Yeah I get that too. Once, my whole team managed to make it into a match but a few seconds into the game, we got ejected one by one. So even if the message suggests it's the host that kicked you out, it's not him that's responsible.

Graw is murder for crashing out or being ejected or losing connection, so much so, I dont play it anymore, have been on it for over an hour and not finished a game, thats not good.
