_{How does this forum not have a GoW2 thread? Jesus, you guys fail me .}



So GoW2 was released in PAL areas last Friday and I've been playing it pretty much non-stop ever since. I'm nearly done with my first playthrough on Normal and boy does this game rule. Definitely one of my Top 10 games of all time. Anyone else enjoying the awesomeness that is GoW2 at the moment?

Any games without Achievements seem subpar to me. I call this Achievement Sickness Syndrome, or (ASS).

Its been out here in Canada for about a month now.
I was visiting my cousin a while back and he picked up the game.
Three words:

Fan-fuckin-tastic.

(or is that considered one word because of hyphens? ah, fuck it...)

Its fast, its gorey, its addictive and the cut scenes look great. The only gripe I have is more because 360 has spoiled me, but I can't deal with CGI crap anymore. I want to see game engine. All the time.

That said, GOW2 is a solid game.

I have not got a PS2 but I played most of the first one on my mate's PS2 and it is one seriously action packed game! I got this demo for the 2nd game when I was coming out of the cinema last month and it came in a box shaped like pandora's box. I cant play it but it was really funny when the person giving them out couldnt believe I was over 18.

Cant wait to play this 2nd one either way once my mate gets it even if I have to remind me.the third will come out on the PS3 correct?

I hate 'action sequences' that you have to press buttons for. HERE! Watch Kratos do all these cool moves that you don't actually do at ALL....

PRESS X! PRESS O! PRESS X! Wasn't that cool?

Sounds like Space Ace or Dragons Lair.. If that is what God of War is, then the game sucks imo.. never played it so don't hate me for that statement.. But seriously, Is it really a lot like Tomb Raider:Legend mini games? Thought this was a hack and slash game

Kind of. The scenes in Tomb Raider: Legend where you have to press a series of buttons are basically non-interactive; all you do is press a few buttons. In God of War you not only have scenes similar to those of Tomb Raider but also "interactive" ones that are blended in with the gameplay. One example is when you fight a troll, there'll be a sudden prompt to press a particular button that will enable you to perform a special attack.

The fixed camera isn't annoying at all, I don't even see how anyone besides a blind x-bot would see this as a problem. Same for the action sequences. Have you even played a GoW title for more than five minutes Chris?

You mean my perception .. yeah, I know.. NoFear explained it already. I've never seen it in action and going by Chris' reaction it sounded lame..
But unfortunately I don't own a ps2 nor do friends of mine. I'll just have to live without it

I have played and completed GOW1. There were many times I hated that stupid camera, one time that sticks out is toward the beginning of the game when you have to jump from box to box, that camera will not move when you're trying to make these delicate jumps from box to box. Let ME decide where to look, scumbag game.

Video of what I'm talking about in GOW2 with the scripted fight scenes... jump to 4:23, it shows EXACTLY what I mean. Fighting the huge Epic dudes looks really good, it's too bad you don't really get to participate. It's like "PRESS X TO CONTINUE FIGHT, NOW PRESS O. GOOD JOB, FIGHT COMPLETE."

I personally think the timed events are one of the best things in God of War, nice switch in pace and they make cinematics more interesting. I'm told Spiderman 3 has them too and I cant wait to try them out. As for the camera, that might be a matter of preference, it never bugged me.

I havent played thsi one yet but am thinking about it. Everything in my soul is telling me not to go back to the ps but it looks fun. I wish they had something like this on the 360. On the other hand I may just wait for C&C...

I dot see what's not to like, I think it's way better than the alternatives which are either A. watching the enemy die/explode/collapse etc or B. a regular non-interactive cinematic. I can think of a few ways on how to improve them for future GoW titles by making them more interactive (by making them open-ended and allowing the player to choose between different animations for instance) but I think they are great the way they are now. They give the game its own unique identity and they're definitely one of my favorite mechanics within the franchise.

Likewise i can't stop playing this either racked up 15hrs in a WEEK!!??!!? on Hard btw not that pussy Normal mode I forget sometimes that this is a PS2 game it looks SO good, only some blocky textures/cut scenes let it down.

As for the QTE moments (isn't that the proper name??) it's better than seeing the same animations 2 million times like some action games do, the QTE moments are few and far between and fit in perfectly.
