offtopic: Sort of offtopic, what's the one step down from HDMI in most people's opinion?

Is VGA really your only option? Converting the signal through all that will likely lose you some quality in the picture.

because of our living situation, too complicated to go into and really not worthwhile, we have one tv and the pc monitor. I play all my 360 on the monitor, mainly so i can read the writing in games as our tv is sd, also so that my other half can watch tv or play wii. It just gives more options, plus better graphics

Ah OK fair enough. I take it buying a new HDTV with two or three HDMI sockets is out the question then?!

Ps3 has nothing like the HANA chip, I really don't think native VGA is an option. You need something like the the X2VGA 2 or VIDIGI VD-Z3.
A-) X2VGA 2 http://www.x2vga.com/product it's $60 US, which is fairly reasonable for what you are getting. B-) VIDIGI VD-Z3 (I think this is out of production? Thats ok, I think the x2vga is superior...) In most cases I'd say VGA, but some tvs don't support it that well. I do like the fact that DVD would be upscaled over VGA... |

I may be wrong on this but i remember reading about 1 year ago the best way to get VGA out of PS3 is to get a HDMI>DVI lead then a simple DVI>VGA converting box which is supposed to be cheap to buy. I am sorry i have no idea were i read this or were to get the DVI>VGA box from but i am sure a bit of google searching should yield some results.

I think best option is just plug it into your SD TV when the Wii aint in use...
Now that is advice which can't be beaten !!

I think I said before in this thread, but you are likely to lose some quality in the picture by using converters and stuff. Just depends how serious you are about getting HD, personally I'd rather wait for a straight connection.

http://www.networktechinc.com/dvi-vga.html At this point I'd almost have to say that buying a new pc monitor with hdmi in would be the best bet . But... sounds like our OTP is just going to stick out SD until a new TV is in the cards. |
