Default A good Wireless router for gaming?

Hey all. Anyone know of a good wireless router for gaming? I plan on picking up a PS3 this year and will probably be getting the model with wireless connection built in.

I am upgrading from DSL to Cable for my internet connect this Saturday and the Modem they will be sending me does not have wireless built in, so I'm gonna need a router.

What do you suggest?

The distance from my PS3 to the Modem will be about 30 feet, but I also use my laptop wirelessly which I mostly use upstairs on the second floor. The Modem and PS3 will be in the basement.

Thanks for the help.

I have used the NETGEAR DG834GT for many years now and rarely have a problem with it. Signal strength is fine, it lives downstairs and I spend most of my time upstairs, still working just as required.

I am thinking of ordering this one.

It's gotten some pretty good reviews. Also, if anything ever happens to it, I can take it back to Costco for a full refund.

Personally I wouldn't pay 100 of my currency on a router that I would use just for gaming/surfing, but that's just me. Just seems like a waste when there are cheaper alternatives that do the same job.

Also: Costco is a respectable store over there?!

Yes, Costo is the shiznit. LOL. They give you a lifetime exchange on almost everything you buy. Money back, no questions asked. I got my 360 from them. A few months later it started scratching discs. I toook it back and got a full refund no questions asked and simply bought a new one. Ended up saving a few dollars because of the price drop. I got a pretty good bundle too. I plan on buying my PS3 bundle from them. Their games are usually cheaper than everywhere else too. I got Halo 3 for $49.99 when everywhere else it was $59.99. On launch day. And say, in a year, I decide I don't like Halo 3, I could take it back for a full refund. Not saying I would, but you get the ideal.

You pay for the membership. $50.00/year, but I have their American Express credit card that gives you money back so it pays for itself. I have stopped shopping at BestBuy and Circuit City unless they have a really good sale or something that Costco doesn't. But, Costco has the best customer service by far.

And yeah, that is a bit much for a router. I will go the store this week as they usually have some decent items in stock and look for one cheaper. But like I said, the fact that I can take it back if I ever have any problems with it, i will definitely be getting it from Costco if I can.

I own that router, before it I owned a Linksys WRT 54G but that thing required frequent reload because it over heated, even with hacked firmware I didn't find it to be reliable...

Anyways, in a year and a half (or more?) I haven't had any problems. If you're PS3 is within cable distance though... stick with copper.

Last, if you're willing to spend that much you might as well get this one, I think it looks better http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...nav=&Nty=1&s=1

I have the same router as Ross (NETGEAR DG834GT 108mbps) and its always worked fine for me, only connection issues have been due to cunting AOL... AOL must die, soon.

It's $90 on New Egg, not bad. Their really arent enough opinions on it to judge but there are quite a few negative reviews / comments. I think the GamerLounge he original pointed at, or the netgear Ross and _chris_ mentioned would be the safer bet.
