Haze

So yeah ... uhm ... a demo of this much hyped ps3 fps is up on the EU store since Tuesday and it'll hit the US store later tonight.

I grabbed it, excited and with high expectations, as soon as it was available and ... boy did I feel disappointed. Granted, I am not a fps person at all but I do like a lil shooting ala Bioshock or Call of Duty 4 once in a while. From all the hype around Haze I was led to believe that it would at least try to play in the same league but all it was and is is .... exceptional .... exceptionally average in every way you look at it. It's so fucking average that I tend to believe a fps player could fall asleep while playing it or play it subconsciously ... you get my drift.

It's one huge disappointment. I have never seen a game beeing so average in every possible way considering the production values and general effort that went into this. The aiming is just horrible (auto aim on/off doesn't matter) and it kinda feels like you have to get very close to actually hit something.

The whole nectar deal is more of a game breaker than anything else. It actually disrupts the flow of the game quite a lot because you basically have to push L2 every minute to inject more nectar. If you don't you hardly ever see what's shooting at you .... and even worse ... what you're supposed to shoot at ...... injecting nectar kinda stops you for a second or so. Doesn't sound like much but it really feels very disruptive to me.

What are your thoughts ?

err, after those comments I'm not sure I'll download it. A grid demo just came out and I have to play some more GTA this weekend... if i remember maybe I'll try it next week. sounds like Trash!

Well, I think you should try it for yourself. As I said, I am not a fps person and it takes a hell of a lot for me to play and like a fps. I have read many good things about the demo but to be honest I couldn't see why some ppl like it.

On a more positive note .... the US store got Haze, Bourne and GRID demos today. Grabbed Bourne and GRID but won't be able to play them tonight. Sometimes even I need to get sleep. I am starting to sport looks that would put most survival horror game zombies to shame I hope Bourne will at least live up to some of the hype. I loved the movies and the soundtrack. And if all that fails me I'll drown my sorrow and pain in Hyboria. By some incredible strike of cold hard luck I won a Age of Conan beta key today Won't do me much good at this point but at least it's still good for a week or so.

Ever since I saw some Haze gameplay footage on Game Trailers, I've known the game was gonna suck. Like you said, it looked (can't say played ) VERY average.

I didn't think it was that bad, but it wasn't as good as people we're making it out to be.
I played some co-op with my friend on it and that was ok.

I didn't try any multiplayer at all. Single player was all I did and that felt like when you went to the movies to see some huge blockbuster (SW Episode I anyone ?) and when it's over you realize that 2.5 hours of your life just went down the drain as uneventfull as life can get and you just wish you'd have done something ... ANYTHING ... else with those 2.5 hours.

Bourne didn't impress either ..... felt very ... chaotic and uncontrolled while also giving the impression of attempting to be the world's longest random QTE battle. But the music was good ... at least it sounded like the movies
