Killzone 2

Anyone play it yet? What are your thoughts? I like it so far, but the analog movement takes some getting use to.

I love it, especially now that I've leveled up enough to actually be a real threat. Every kill is +3 in body count. I can make turrets....I also start out with more than the standard ammo

This game has been selling like hot cakes in the UK, isn't it? How come there aren't more people talking about it here?

I'm actually not that impressed with KZ2. Beeing one of the few games these days which cause motion sickness doesn't help either ;-) I find it very hard to actually see stuff in the levels because there is a huge lack of contrast. Maybe it gets better with later levels but so far I find it increasingly difficult to quickly develop an awareness of your surroundings, where shots come from etc. The aiming doesn't help either. For the most part I am fine with the controls beeing "clunky" and on the slower, unresponsive side of things. But getting your crosshair where it needs to be quickly is becoming more and more annoying the more I play. Especially when you only see tiny bits of your enemies hiding behind cover it's very hard to line up a precise shot before they move. Add to that the huge health bars Helghasts seem to have and voila ... perfect mix for lots of frustration.

I liked R2 a lot better but then again ..... FPS only work for me with enemies that won't move and shoot back ........... and aim assist on max of course ;-)

I think it's the Halo in me that makes me like it. I constantly try for headshots for every pull of the trigger, so the little bits that hang out of cover helps because it's usually just their head anyway. I was the biggest skeptic of the game but the online multiplayer won me over. The single player campaign is pretty throw away, but it's alright sometimes.

Yeah, I still keep trying to get the quick headshot kills but all it really does is make their helmets go stuntman (Cevat Yerli (Crytek) would be sooooo proud of that

). Those guys can take an awfull lot of led filled punishment to their collective heads without dying properly

Conclusion: headshots are not usefull in KZ2 at all. Barrels and grenades and bullet rain .... something will hit them enough eventually.

Still, somewhat disappointing .... maybe I really am getting to old for this

Although I have my frustrations with KZ2, I do recognize that's it's a great game. One minute I love the MP and the next I want to turn it off. It's one of those love/hate relationships. The single player is awesome, IMO.

so...um...why bother playing an FPS at all?
I mean, stationary enemies that pose no challenge while the auto-aim does the work for you? I don't see the point.

Might as well go play chess with your grandma.

NOTE: tried it out the other night at a buddy's place. It looks pretty as hell, even with the limited colour pallete (brown's, grey's and muted dark tones FTW?) but something doesn't feel 'right'. Granted, I didn't fiddle with the button layout, and I've never been the biggest fan of the SixAxis controller in my hands, but if I had the dough, I'd pick this up.

Just ranked up to 2 stars. 400XP to go to 3 I think.

Oh and I beat the campaign. It was alright..but 5 years and $20m for that? The whole thing was easy really.

I enjoyed the demo when I checked it out, but I can't help but wish I had a 360 pad in my hand, rather than the Dualshock. It's just not the same.

Yea the controller is really the only thing holding me back from getting more games for the ps3. I played mlb for about 3hrs sunday and my hands hurt, now if I sit and play say cod for 360 for that long I get no fatigue anywhere. For the casual gamer the controller is fine but for gaming an extended time it sucks. Id love to get killzone2 but thats the reason I dont.

I don't feel the controller is a reason not to buy a PS3 game. I do most of my online gaming on the 360, but if there's a PS3 exclusive out that is good I'll get it. Example, I own LBP, Metal Gear 4, Socom, and MLB08(all great games). Renting Killzone 2 for the moment but I may return it after I beat the campaign and then buy it this spring off Ebay or Amazon for a cheaper price.

Finally picked this up while my 360 is on hiatus. Haven't played much SP yet, been doing MP. (Earned my first trophy ever in SP though, not a very exciting noise like the 360.)

I like it despite the controls being slow. I understand what was said above, perception is kinda hard at first. Certainly takes more getting used to than the likes of CoD (not a good/bad thing). I'm enjoying it though I hate having to hold L2 to crouch then clicking R3 to look down the sight. I take it I can customise the controls to be more like CoD right?

I rented KZ2 right when it released. I had it for about 2+ weeks, played through the campaign, spent some quality time in MP, and returned it. It was a good game for sure, but I don't think it was purchase worthy for me. If you have not played it go try, it's a great game.

Although I only rented it, it's a great game. In fact, if it ever goes on sale for $20 I'll buy it to add to my PS3 exclusives collection.
