Xbox360 prospects for the rest of '06

Like many of you I am interested in Gears of War. We really have no halo replacement for FPS competition on xbox live. Most of the FPS games on 360 have missed the mark bigtime when it comes to multiplayer. I dislike the sluggish and slow movement of GRAW characters and also dislike the aiming system (it is a good game in spite of those drawbacks). I have three major post E3 dissapointments:

1. We are facing a summer drought of games.
2. GoW is a THIRD person shooter?!
3. Halo 3 is coming out in 2007.

I need a 360 FPS fix. I need a blue dragon or enchanted arm RPG (or any psuedoFF7 game) fix. Also, where the HELL is texas hold'em? Why couldn't CliffyB throw a demo of some kind at us at E3? Will their be a first person camera option in GoW (sort of like GRAW)? I feel like MS left us hanging after E3. I expected alot more release dates and details of games. I expected Texas holdem to finnaly debut. I HOPED for a multiplayer FPS demo to be released of GoW.

Sorry to be so negative, but I really want a SOLID multiplayer experience in the FPS arena for xbox360 this summer. Looks like we will have to wait. Anyone have any good news?

And my friend GR:AW in a tatical shooter which means you DONT "run and gun" you think before you shoot!!! Why must we have sword in a FPS or super jumps or over shields? So people with NO SKILLS can get a cheep win?

I just think GRAW is sluggish. I don't like lumbering along and I hate how hard it is to turn around or look. Its a FPS for my grandma. Halo is all about strategy and teamwork unless you are new to the game and are just randomly running around and shooting. Note I said GRAW was a good game, I just feel it is really constrained because of the movement. Thats not a reflection on those who enjoy GRAW either. It takes skill to get an overshield or a sword and use it correctly, if you are playing worthy opponents. Im not looking for an argument about two different games.

1. No we're not; Dead Rising FTW! (and GoW aswell probably)
2. We (or atleast I) already knew that at last years E3? GoW was a Third (well it's over the shoulder, more like second) person shooter from the get-go
3. With the lack of info I really didn't expect this anytime soon, 2007 was completly in the line of my expectations.

Be sure to check out Haze, you might like it. It's from Free Radical, the people who previously did the TimeSplitters trilogy which had a pretty fast multiplayer in it.

Word on the street is that GoW will be out this summer. And CoD2 is good MP FPS by now.

And why for the name of all that's holy does a game have to suck when it's not exactly like Halo? My god, a TPS can be cool too you know. Be open. Or wait for Halo 3 early next year (or not unlikely, somewhere near PS3 introduction after all).

You guys really think Gears of War will come out this summer? That will be cool if so. Note I said twice that GRAW was a good game! I just like the halo feel alot better. I enjoy multiplayer FPS way too much and have played FPS way too long to change to a TPS game. I have been playing multiplayer FPS on consoles since Turok2 for N64. I'll look into the aforementioned games. Thanks for your input.

Like I said 'word on the street' is that Gears will be out this summer, if I had anything official it would've been on the frontpage I do trust the source, but do mind that Summer lasts from June 21st to September 20th.

As for Halo vs. GRAW, it's not a matter of "liking the Halo feel a lot better", they're just games that cannot be compared. Halo is a run&gun game, of which admittedly there isn't much on X360 yet (Quake 4 doesn't count, and even CoD2 is too tactical to be compared). As a tactical shooter, GRAW is obviously unsurpassed. If you play regular all-for-themselves deathmatch in GRAW though, I expect it sucks. The game was simply made for tactical teamplay.

Well, at least we got a Prey demo coming. Now they need to release texas hold'em, give us a summer release date for GoW, and see if Ubisoft will hurry up localizing enchanted arms.

After that there is, Alone in the Dark 5, Splinter Cell: DA, Resident Evil 5, Alan Wake and of course, Halo 3, along with many more.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong, but I'm not sure where people are getting "summer" time release date from, for Gears of war. This site seems to say it's out in November, they're pretty reliable. Yes, I know the release date is for the UK.

I think you're right. According to those movies from the MTV post on the frontpage it's due this fall. IF they are going to make it. There was one movie on the site where the lead designer is talking with Bill Gates and Bill asked: "Will it be ready for a fall release?". The look on that guys face said it all, but I still hope it will make the deadline. Can't wait to play this baby

Play.com recently updated from July 1st to August 4th. They're also pretty reliable

I has the most impressive gameplay footage ever seen imo.
It also promises great things on how game presentation will go in the future.

I hope it's at least 8 hours long, but that would not make it less impressive.

I hope GoW has a really awesome multiplayer setup on Live. I know they said before that Live play was not a big concern but maybe the fall release will give them time to iron it out.

Can't wait to play the Prey demo, those guns look really cool. Looks like a turok/doom hybrid game.
