Default Xbox Live Killer?

"A developer who wanted to remain anonymous told the magazine that Sony is “committed to match the current Xbox Live feature by feature and then some.” That “some” would imply a “one big PlayStation network” that will go beyond gaming and include other forms of digital entertainment, with the PSP and other Sony technologies playing a key role in that assault."

I think that any ps3online service would basically end up being a rip off of xbox live, although at the moment we don't know much. I really can't wait to see how the ps3 turns out, the ps3 online service does have potential, but it certainly won't have the reputation like xbox live does.

I don't think HUB (official name, announced today) has anything on Xbox Live. Microsoft had the expierence and the resources where Sony has to start from scratch.

Moved to Xbox Live Service

I read the article as well and I'll have to see it before I believe it. Emotion Engine anyone? Sony can build consoles, but they don't have Microsoft's worldwide 24/7 network (think Hotmail, MSN). Until I see something running I'll consider it the usual Sony hot air before releasing a new console.

Yeah. It isn't going to be easy, creating an online service comparible to Microsofts Xbox Live. That is going to be a large challegnge for SONY to accomplish. I think they are going to create a, good online service, that is alot better than SONY's previous services(PS2'S free service). But Microsoft has had alot of time to plan Xbox Live, and the clock is just ticking for SONY. And just like Curry said "They don't have Microsofts 24/7 Network".

SONY is just trying to do to much, in so little time. And this is only going to be another SONY downfall. SONY needs to slow down with all these plans and take it one-step-at-a-time.

Xbox Live already had a long test period before the 360 came, Sony can't possibly beat that

HUB will only work properly on the superfast networks like Japan, South Korea and high tech networking countries. It will fail on ADSL and most cable systems due to what will probably be crappy netcoding by Sony.

The big question is ofcourse how many rootkits are required to be installed before you can connect to their network

Sony sure talks a lot. That's all they're good at, talking.

I'm not a ps3 hater or anything, i mean...i'll probably end up buying it at some point anyway, but i'm really actually looking forward to the Revolution. Instead of the Normal Sony magazine's talking shit about Xbox, you've got Nintendo actually showing what they're trying to do and what they're trying to accomplish. If [online] we'll have access every first party Nintendo title ever created, i'll buy it just for that.
(Sorry i'm off topic)

Until a few months ago I was actually in doubt whether to buy an Xbox 2 (official name wasn't out yet) or a PS3. Then Microsoft started showing things, and Sony didn't. I chose X360 because it was there and it was next-gen, and I didn't feel like waiting another few months for a console without an online service. Now it seems (some kind of) online service is coming, but the damn console is still a year away I haven't had a single regret that I chose to buy an X360, and the way things are going I expect the PS3 to be outdated before it's out, so I probably won't be getting one of those either.

And Nintendo just never been my thing. I like Super Mario Kart on the SNES, but apart from that I run whenever I see a red-clothed Italian plumber AGAIN in YET ANOTHER spinoff doing the same thing AGAIN. And with the rumors going strong that the Revolution will only have twice the graphics and processing power of the already heavily underpowered Gamecube.... Nah I like my 360 and I don't expect to be needing anything else
