I myself am very Philips-minded (I grew up in Philips' hometown, my father's been working for them for 40 years, and now I myself am working as a contractor for them ) but the Samsung TV's are also nice.

Major thing I'm missing on that page though is the resolution. I assume 720P at that price?

Resolution: 1366(H) x 768(V)
That means it's 720p

720p is a progressive-scan screen of 1280x720 pixels, which is either slightly stretched or letterboxed to fit this resolution. 1080i is interlaced 1920x1080, whereas 1080p is 1920x1080 progressive. See Wikipedia for more info.

Telly specs look damn nice for the price. I myself will be going for a 42" Philips set in a few months with full 1080p, 6ms response, Aptura/ClearLCD tech etc., but that will set me back around 3000 euro, so I guess this Samsung would be a good buy for the 1400 quid

I'm actually waiting for the 42PF9831D, the successor to the one you found, to be released in June or July. And no I don't print money I just have a 'good job'

Xbox 360 internally renders at 720p and is capable of upscaling to 1080i if required. So for the 360 it doesn't matter too much whether you get a 720p or 1080i/p television, but for the HD/DVD expansion it will.

Philips started to focus on design and ubertechnology a few years back, and yes it shows. But you better bring some dough

Check announcement and pics for the one I want here btw.

For myself I have a Samsung LE32R51, what is an awesome television for his price. It only has 720p, but my opinion is that 720p is the best resolution to play at

OK, I was browsing Argos (pretty big electronics retailer in the UK) and found this:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5292167.htm

I have no idea what it is like, can it show 720p? and is the resolutions any good?

I know there was an HDTV thread somewhere that was big, but I couldn't find it, so I used this one.
