Ok, so I've seen the news post on Xboxic about this device.
What I want to know is, is this piece of ill-advised hardware actually endorsed by Microsoft then? Have the manufacturers actually been given permission to produce it?

Because if something as outright shit as this thing gets the Microsoft go-ahead, why on earth won't they grant permission for the X-Arcade joystick 360 adapter?

Just wtf?

If MS have endorsed it, they get money for it. In the business world, it's every man for himself, and they know this will probably sell well, so why wouldn't you give the go ahead?

You think that's good business then? Releasing a product designed to annoy users on XBL, a product that will be abused?

The point I'm making, what I'm asking, is how come a stupid thing like SmackTalk gets microsoft's backing but quality joysticks very much don't?

XBL is bad enough as it is because of the kids. The fact that Microsoft appear to not give a monkey's about this, and by your definition are justified in this attitude because of potential profit, can only ever drag the online service down.

It is good business: in the short run. People can be very blind. They will make a fair bit of money out of it. Yet the gamers who suffer because of this will get pissed, and slowly start leaving XBL. In the end, MS lose money. So it isn't all good business admittedly.

The Joystick thing I cannot answer. Perhaps the audience is not as big for the stick?

And there is nothing MS can do about the kids. They can't simply say "no children under the age of 16 allowed on Live" because people would be up in arms about it.

Don't get me wrong: I agree with you that it is a poor thing that should never have seen the light of day. But I know the product is a clever one, people love this kind of thing, especially pubity-enriched teenagers, so why not? You'll make a load of money.

If it's officially endorsed there's problems ahead. There'll be a lot of complaints about it's use through the online complaints system. We go online to play games, not spend half the night muting people and filing complaints. Unfortunately, Microsoft would be unwilling to do anything about something they endorse. The complaints process is bad enough as it is.

A third party device would hopefully induce a bit more wrath from Microsoft if they think the complaints are costing them subscribers.

it won't be endorsed by MS and as it just connects to the mic port of the controler there is nothing they can do to stop it. If you come across it use the feedback system.

They can say, you are allowed to buy it, but your not allowed to be using it whilst on Xbox-Live. That way they can, hopefully, drop the amount of people with one.

Yeah that'll be just as effective as saying you can't cheat on Halo 2. Last I heard Bungie still bans a heap of fuckers per week, and that's on something they actually can detect and act upon. Since they can't do that with this POS, I highly doubt they will respond in any way and just try to ignore it to death
