I just bought my 50" Samsung DLP HDTV for 2006. I have been playing on it, and it is absolutely UNBELEIVABLE!!!!!!!!! I MEAN THIS THING MAKES ME JIZZ EVERYTIME I TURN IT ON! I was just wondering how much better the 1080P is? And did I make a good purchase when I went with the 720P? I am happy with it, but i just want to know what you all think. Thanks!

Actually opening a topic for it and having these questions sounds like you are having some sort of cognitive dissonance. You want confirmation you did good for the money you spend? Well here you are: most games will be in 720p so you're fine with that. Even better, the best and most demanding games will be in 720p. Even on PS3. Even, if not more in the years to come. The old xbox 1 could do 720p already. But the native resolution was 480p. The games in 720p were not the most demanding and exciting ones. They lost detail/objects but the image got sharper. Maybe you would have liked 1080p with the HD-DVD. Could be. So any buy with hardware/electronica is old tomorrow. But if you enjoy it today it's allright isn't it? THe best thing is: in a half year you won't think about if you did good buying this one. You'll only be enjoying it because you forgot how much money it did cost back then well almost then ![]() |

haha, thanks alot guys. i actually bought the TV for $1100. And it is going for like $1500-$1700 other places. I bought it straight from the Samsung factory. (refurbished) But it works perfectly, and doesnt have one defect on it at all. So I am VERY HAPPY on that deal, and thanks for the advice guys!

wait until you can get a decent 1080p for $1100, i'm happy with 720p until then too. For gaming this generation, despite what sony pretends to think, is 720p. I really don't care about movies enough to worry about the viewing enjoyment between 720p/1080i and 1080p... the difference is negligiable :|

I mean the last time I heard people talking about that size 1080p HDTV's it was something around 3500 dollars?!?!?! WTF I think I might go for the 24 inch Dell (out now) or Benq (yet to come) 1080p monitor/HDTV. Nice to get tax back on my own company from the government, use it through the day for work and yet still use it @ night for the 360 with the HD-DVD player ![]() |

I've received my Philips 37PF9731d yesterday, which plays 1080i natively on a 1920x1080 panel. I've been shocked ever since at the the immeasurable beauty.

Aah, so you finally took the plunge on this awesome panel. Grats
.I'm still in doubt on which one to get and decision time is getting closer by the minute since our 7 year old 32" JVC CRT is starting to show problems with the screen's north/south correction (again)….and this time it's not going back for repair...

i have an lcd tv with a resolution of 1024 by 768 linked to the 360 via a vga cable, however if i set resolution to 1024/768 on the dashboard any game appears within black borders! the only way round this is to change settings to widescreen but this just distorts the image as its not a widescreen tv! sorry to go slightly off topic but its driving me mad! any ideas around this or why it happens?

i think you buyed an old thing.. you better buyed a new generation phillips ceneos (because the new one i cheaper here). Especially when the HD dvd comes, xbox on 1080p etc etc.. the generation you bought is already 4 years old.
now you see the huge difference between 480 and 720.. do the same difference between that but then between 720 and 1080..

I am thinking you are just trying to justify you spending so much money on a 1080P television. Because, you now realize it was a mistake to spend that much when there is such little use for them at this time. |
