Anyone tried Gefen VGA to HDMI adapter?

I have a sony front projector that supports 1080p over HDMI only so I'm basically SOL on getting 1080p from my Xbox 360. However, I found this device today:

Has anyone tried using this on their HDMI tv to get 1080p?

It would be awesome if this worked...

looks like it could do the job, but wow its expensive! cha-ching! I would rather wait for HDMI cable to come out, and hopfully by end of this year.

Wow thats expensive. I would wait, cause I highly doub Microsoft is not putting 110% into aking something to make the 360 compatible with HDMI. If theres a will theres a way.
